October 2022

Primary 5a have been very busy this month presenting PowerPoints and posters on different Scottish cities. Everyone enjoyed listening to others and making notes on interesting places to visit and important facts. We included Stirling, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Dundee and a few others. We practised projecting our voices and answered other children’s questions. Well done everyone!

In Science, we have been learning about vertebrates and invertebrates. We have classified plants and animals and it was really exciting to find out about cnidarians, flatworms, true worms, molluscs, echinoderms and arthropods.

In outdoor learning, we have been using our mathematical skills to look for signs of symmetry in nature. In class, we have continued with handling data to read and create graphs. Everyone got the chance to practise using co-ordinates to create different pictures.

In literacy, we have moved on to writing personal recounts and stories. We wrote a personal piece on ‘If I Could Change the World’. We came up with lots of different ideas and how we could possibly make these changes happen. To further develop our writing skills, we shared our ‘October Week’ holiday stories.

Last night, we all had a great time at the ‘Hallowe’en Disco’. The outfits were fantastic. We are all looking forward to dressing up again on Monday night.

Thanks to everyone who shared their work on Diwali.

Mrs Bovaird & Primary 5a

Rachel- I really loved dressing up as a butterfly. The science videos really helped me to understand vertebrates and invertebrates.

Martin- I was a dark phantom. I love keeping healthy by playing football and running to keep fit.

Rayyan- I love Health and Wellbeing especially P.E. My favourite warm up game is dodge ball.

Sarah- I really enjoyed learning about other world religions. I have really worked hard on money calculations.

Kazeem- My favourite game was dodge ball because it was really active.  I made a poster on Edinburgh and shared it with my class.

Elysia- Loved the Hallowe’en party. I really enjoyed drama in the hall. I worked in small groups.

Isabelle- I loved the Hallowe’en party as I dressed up as a cat. Drama was great fun. I got to work with my friends. I made a Dunfermline PowerPoint. I chose this city because my grandparents live there.
