Happy New Year, and welcome to our first blog of 2023!
We were lucky enough to have Mr Harkins for the few few weeks on January . He told our teacher that we were every bit as good as he’d been told we were!
Maths:
This month, we covered Area and Perimeter. We can confidently find the area of a right angled triangle too! We used metre sticks and trundle wheels to estimate and then measure larger distances. We are also starting to learn long multiplication! We will soon be moving on to Fractions, Decimals and Percentages.
Language:
In Language this month, we looked at using the apostrophe correctly in our writing. We wrote a recount of our Christmas holidays. We also learnt about The Ploughman Poet, Rabbie Burns. We learned some poems and wrote fact files about him. We also learned some Scots Language. Talking of Languages, we are performing a song in Spanish for the school’s Eurovision Competition on Friday. Even if we do not win, we still had fun! We began our novel study, The Amazing Story of Adolphus Tips. We are all enjoying it so far!
RE:
We continued with the Pope Francis Faith Award. We are now working through ‘Piety. We are performing a Talent Show in class on Friday… wish us luck! We hope you liked the Thankyou cards which we made!
PE:
We have moved on from Basketball to Netball with Miss Sutherland.
In Outdoor Learning, we learned how to use compasses and also built rafts for the stream!
IDL:
We began our Life Beyond Land topic. We are looking at Space Exploration, The Atmosphere and Sea Creatures. Watch this space….
