Numeracy

We have been learning about angles and directions and the points of a compass.  We used new vocabulary like clockwise and anti-clockwise and used our desk pets to help us! We have been learning about data handling and can read and draw bar graphs and pictograms. The cylinders also learned to read line graphs. We did a survey to collect information about litter found in the playground, we were sad and worried to find out how much there was! We made PowerPoints to share this information with the rest of the school to tackle the problem! We are still working hard with our times tables and division and playing our maths games.

Literacy

We have enjoyed starting our class novel study, Charlie & the Chocolate Factory. We have been completing different jobs at home each week such as the visualiser, questioner, clarifier, summariser and the predictor. We wrote newspaper articles about the factory opening and the lucky golden ticket winners. On Burns’ day, we retold the story of The Three Little Pigs using lots of Scots language. We learned about Venn diagrams and idioms with Miss Nisanci.

IDL

We have a new topic called Life Beyond Land. The first thing we wanted to learn about was the weather and different types of crazy weather! We have been keeping a weather diary. We also watched some videos of extreme weather conditions. We are now working in groups on a mini project to choose and research the types of weather we want to know about. We also learned about racism and human rights and learned about Martin Luther King Jr and Rosa Parks. We made posters to share their inspiring stories. We have also been reading some of the ‘Little People, Big Dreams’ books that some people in the class have brought in. So far, we have read about Rosa Parks, Michelle Obama, Anne Frank and John Lennon and are looking forward to reading some more.

R.E.

We have started to prepare for our Sacraments. Canon Eddie celebrated the Rite of Enrolment with us to begin our Sacramental journey. He gave us our journals to complete at home with our families.

On Friday, we took part in St Cadoc’s Eurovision song contest! We sang A Million Dreams in French and sign language and we came third place! We have still been practising our French “ooh la la” vocab and phrases of the week.

We were very impressed with two future engineers who made robots at home and shared them with the class.  🙂
