OCTOBER 2022

We have been very busy this month in P4b! Here are some of the things we have been up to:

Maths

We have been learning the 7 and 8 times table and are feeling more confident with these. We have been learning how to divide with remainders and using the bus stop method. The Cylinders were also practising addition and subtraction calculations with carrying and exchanging.  We all enjoyed learning 3D shapes, we even learned about a tricky shape called a dodecahedron with 12 faces!

Literacy

We have been practising lots of new spelling rules like ‘tion’ and silent letters. We wrote imaginative stories called The Woods and The Troll. When we finished describing our trolls we drew pictures based on the adjectives we had included to see if Mrs McMenamin could match them to our stories! This week we also wrote acrostic and shape poems about fireworks. In French we have been learning how to introduce ourselves and also about different nationalities We have also been learning about L’Halloween and my family.

RE

We have been learning about the Creation story and made comic strips to tell what happened. We were learning about Mary and praying the Rosary. We enjoyed hearing about the Joyful Mysteries of the Rosary. We also learned about the festival of Diwali and made Rangoli patterns.

We also voted for our new history topic, we chose
Ancient Greece and are looking forward to learning about mythological creatures and Greek Gods and Goddesses.
