January Blog

2023 here we come!

So far so good, we have started the year off with a bang! Here are some of the things P3a have been learning in the month of January…

Naomi- We have been doing our new expedition Life Beyond Land. We have been answering the questions ‘How do astronauts survive in space?’ and ‘How many planets are in the solar system?’ We wrote questions in our jotters of things we wanted to know and we chose 4 main ones to answer this term. In Waterloo I have a solo part.

Savyasachi- We have been practising for the St Cadoc’s Eurovision Song Contest. We are performing Waterloo by Abba. I have been enjoying the song and I am playing the guitar. We are performing on Friday. Miss Hillhouse has put the times tables on the wall. I am getting better at my times tables. Miss Hillhouse and Mr Connor have been teaching us how to speak French. There are pictures of our baptism on the classroom wall.

Michael- We have been learning about the chasuble. It is something that the priest wears, it comes in different colours. Ordinary time it is green, Easter and Christmas it is white. We have our new house point token Love. You can get a token when you show love in class.

Elias- We are practising our bullet points and note taking. We were taking notes on astronauts, we used fact files, pictures and chromebooks. Neil Armstrong was the first person to walk on the moon.

Andrew- Miss Hillhouse has been reading the Demon Dentist to us, it is really good. We also brought in our baptism pictures. On Robert Burns day we did a Robert Burns quiz.

Georgia- We have been reading our class novel ‘How to Train Your Dragon.’ In the story Fishlegs didn’t get a dragon so Hiccup gave him his.

Francesca- We have been writing in our free writing jotters. We have been writing about the characters Stella and Tiggy. We write in these jotters in the morning each day.

Grace- We have been learning about clocks. We have been learning quarter to and quarter past. We made leaflets and we drew astronaut pictures and also pictures of Buzz Lightyear.

Adam- We have moved seats in January, some people moved to a different group too. I like sitting next to Nadine, because I like sitting next to all different people because I get to sit next to a boy and a girl. It is very nice meeting new friends. We had Ariana for Williamwood high school to help us do maths, writing she went round helping us and looking at our work.

Rory- We made some crucifixes for the window. Miss Hillhouse gave us a cross shape and we used plastic, and glue and tissues paper to glue them. In Waterloo I have a solo part.

Sareen- We have been learning about division. I like learning about division because I like learning maths. We are also doing times tables up to 9. We have been earning house points and the tokens are blue, purple, orange and red for the St Cadoc’s values.

Elisa- Yesterday all the tables were moved when we came in. We did a special maths booklet. Miss Baker came in and we had to answer the maths questions. On Burns Day we had haggis, neeps and tatties for lunch.

Nadine- We have been using the voices to read the characters in our stories. We have been creating our own names tags for our desks.

Matthew- We were learning about division, timetables. I enjoyed it. We have been practising singing Waterloo in French.

Charlotte- We have been learning in our writing to use exciting openers. On our space wall we wrote questions and facts about astronauts.

Parisa- We have new friends Stella and Tiggy who we sometimes write about in our free writing jotters.

Zahra- We have been doing new mindfulness’ and we have been doing our novel study and answering questions about the novel. We have been singing Waterloo and I am a dancer with a blow-up microphone. We have also been learning about the chasable, it comes in red, purple, white and green.

Carson- At outdoor learning we have been making clocks on the path and trees. We used sticks and pinecones and tones to make the clock hands, and we used chalk to make the outline and numbers.

Mia- We have carpet friends and when we are sitting nicely, we get a carpet friend to sit with us. They are very soft; I like having a carpet friend.

Louise- In our PE we have been doing gymnastics, we have done point and patch balances. We have also been doing jumps and rolls. I enjoy it a lot.

Cillian- People brought in their baptism pictures.
