This is what Primary 3a have to say about their learning this month:
Louise- We learned a lot about ancient Egypt, we learned about pyramids and mummification. We are going to be making a poster or model or poem and PowerPoints for our project at home.
Adam- We have been learning about Diwali we have learned about people painting their floors and putting decorations on their houses and we learned about Rama and Sita. I remember doing things about God, and Daniel and the Lion’s den and making Egyptian necklaces. Every week we get a Star of the Week and Assembly awards and there are cuddly toys if you’ve been sitting well on the carpet and we also have Halloween arts and crafts. We’ve got timetables on the walls to help us learn.
Rory- On Newsround we’ve been learning about the new prime minister. In my maths group we’ve been crossing out (borrowing) numbers. We did an All About Me maths challenge and we also did a rainbow fish and we wrote about the dancing tiger.
Naomi- We have been doing maths activities using dominoes, cards and dice. We’ve been using them for times tables, x2 x3 x4 x5 x6.
Charlotte- In my maths group we’ve been learning carrying with sneaky numbers. We have also being doing some Yoga and during PE we have been focusing on keeping the ball next to our feet in football.
Elisa- We have been learning about how they mummified the Egyptians in 20 layers of bandages and they left the heart in the body. They threw the brain away but they kept the other organs in Canopic jars. Mia- We have been writing rhyming poems about the Witch Next Door. It was a little tricky but I did it correctly.
Savyasachi- I’ve been doing upstairs downstairs calculations. It was medium, it is hard to write the questions in the jotter.
Carson- We have been learning about Egyptian fashion and we have been making necklaces in the style of Egyptian fashion. We used paper plates and yellow paint and sequence to decorate it.
Parisa- We have been doing loads of fun activities like our spelling words hidden in the pumpkin eyes.
Zahra- We have been doing forest school, we made faces and decorated them with sticks and flowers.
Kye- We made bug homes. Andrew and I made rocks and stuck them with mud and made a second layer. We made hands for the wall, we wrote our names in buddle letters and we also drew ourselves on small bits of paper for a school collage. We also were doing skimming and predicting in comprehension.
Francesca- We have been learning a lot about Diwali and Rama and Sita and that Rama and Sita were guided home by lots of Divas. We made a Diwali lantern.
Nadine- We have been reading Halloween Stories. We made Halloween masks, we made Halloween decorations using a scratch pencil. We have Ancient Egypt books inside our classroom.
Matthew- There is a Halloween table and if you are working hard you can go to the table and make a Halloween monster using playdoh and cocktail sticks, and you can name your monster.
Grace- We’ve been learning about in mummifying and they put the person’s body in salt to try them off. When we’ve been learning about that I really enjoyed it because I liked that they only mummified people who were rich like pharaohs because it was interesting.
Elias- We were carving a pumpkin in class. We scooped out all the insides, I enjoyed it, it was lots of fun. While you were waiting for a turn to scoop the pumpkin you made a pumpkin using tissue paper and you got to make your own faces on it and use nice colours. I made a cool pumpkin.
Sareen- We’ve been doing arts and crafts like our necklaces and our hands on the walls and we’ve been doing x2 x3 x4 x5 x6 times tables.
Cillian- We saw a show in school.
Andrew- We did maths mosaics and some mindfulness.
