Primary 1 have been busy since the start of term. They have learned so much in such a short space of time. Each child was asked to choose a piece of work that they felt particularly proud of. This was then put onto a certificate for them to take home and keep.

“I think I coloured in Elmer very well” Niamh

“I knew what colour to use on all the numbers and I knew how to finish the pattern on the caterpillars” Ocean

“I know all my sounds really well and I knew what sounds were missing” Ewan

“I like dinosaurs and I could fill in all the missing numbers on the dinosaur” Alfie

“I drew a very good picture of myself and copied the sentence very well. I was the Phonics Superstar.” Jackson

“I wrote my news and drew a picture.” Eulalie

“I drew a really good picture about my weekend and copied the words carefully.” Charlie

“I coloured in Elmer and I finished the pattern with no help.” Sophia

“I wrote all about my weekend and drew a picture too.” Orlagh

“I went to Jackson’s birthday party and I wrote about it and coloured in a picture too. I didn’t need any help from the teacher.” Daniel

“I wrote over all the words to write a sentence about what I did after school. The picture I drew is of me and my mummy.” Mia

“The first time that we did news I was the Phonics Superstar. My words were very neat and I drew a nice picture.” Joshua

“I liked colouring in Elmer and I knew all my numbers and letters.” Kerr.

“I kept in the lines when I was colouring in Elmer and when I was finishing the pattern. I worked so well on this that I was the Numeracy Superstar.” Lewis

“God made the world in 7 days. I liked colouring in the numbers 2 and 3.” Josh

As part of our Social Studies topic, Primary 1 have been learning all about People Who Help Us. The Fire brigade, PC Goldie and Father Joe have all visited our class to tell us about their job and what they do to help us. We have had lots of fun.

“I liked getting to use the hose with the Firemen” Mia

“I really liked it when I got to try on the Policeman’s hat and jacket. I felt like a real Policeman” Jackson

“The siren was very noisy on the Firetruck. I liked getting to go inside the Fire Engine.” Orlagh

Celebrating Success

Primary 1 are very proud of the work that they have been completing. This week we focused on sounding out words and trying to write them – what a clever class!

Each day, we choose a Literacy and Numeracy superstar and their work goes straight on the wall – this week, everyone in the class has had their work on our achievements wall! To celebrate our successes, we made empire biscuits during ‘Friday Fun’. Everyone is very proud of our Primary 1’s.

Happy Birthday, Roald Dahl.

To celebrate what would have been Roald Dahl’s 100th birthday, we dressed up as different characters from his books. Throughout the day, we participated in many activities including creating a ‘Jar of Dreams’ just like in the BFG, hearing some Roald Dahl stories from the Librarian, making BFG themed cupcakes and even finding some of the Golden Tickets that Willy Wonka hid in the playground. We had a great day.
