Amazing April & Marvellous May

Welcome to a bumper blog this month due to the Spring break!

Mixing Colours and Mark Making

“It feels so nice, like ice- cream”

“It’s  cold and sticky”

“Look at my hands! they’re white”

“I can write my name in it”

“Can we add red paint?”

Such lovely, language and conversation was had between all the children as they explored mixing colours and mark making in shaving foam.  A good work out for little fingers 😊

Fun in the construction area 😄

We have been having fun and creating some amazing models in the construction area. Some future Cross Arthurlie builders in the making.

“Our electric cars “
“Our dance stage singing golden “
“This is our floating castle “

“Saga boy demon world”

“I made a seat and I am in charge of the construction area , to make sure everyone is safe “
“ this is the beach with a palm tree “

“My bridge for my truck “

“ I am making a tall man out of Lego as I am tall”

Nurture Time

At nurture time we decided to see who was the tallest and smallest in the group and even the same size. We also looked at who had the biggest feet and smallest feet and who had the biggest hand and smallest hand.

Who has the biggest and smallest hands ?

Are we the same size ?

WoodlandWalks 🌳

All children in their preschool year have the opportunity to take part in our forrest walks.  A few of the yellow children went along at the same time as Mrs McLean and she managed to get a few photos.

We have learnt about our boundary markers, danger cards and sticky feet! The children should be able to explain these to you 😊

We explored the woods, climbed trees and worked together to move large branches. The children have helped to make a swing and pick nettles for nettle tea.

Washing hands before snack.
Just taking it all in.

“It tastes like potato”
“I’m playing the drums guys”

“I feel like I’m at the park!”

We also had a picnic!
Group hug!

Achievements🌟

Congratulations to our Award winners for the month of April and May!

Suncream

As the weather is heating up please ensure your child has sun cream applied before arriving at nursery.  We will reapply throughout the day.

See you next month for our last blog before summer.  💛

Fabulous February

Welcome to February’s blog 👋

Lunar New Year

As we explored the Lunar New Year (Chinese New Year) the children had the opportunity to taste prawn crackers during snack and were exposed to some Chinese writing.  They did an excellent job of trying it out themselves with paintbrushes, pens and even some straw style calligraphy pens! So much concentration was demonstrated as they attempted to copy the tricky symbols.

That’s number 4 for my age

Outdoor Play

In the outdoor area we have been working with others, making potions and digging really deep to find bones. We had great fun going on a treasure hunt to find hidden coins.

Stay and Play

It was lovely to see so many of you at our stay and play this month.  Don’t worry if you weren’t able to make it this time, we are planning many more 😊.

We had a focus on maths and numeracy, hopefully demonstrating how these are embedded in your children’s play every day at nursery.  If you couldn’t make it or didn’t receive a home learning bag please let us know and we’ll arrange one for you.

Here’s a few snaps of where your children have been choosing to play this month. 😊

Nippy November 2025 💛🍂

Welcome to November’s blog. The children have been busy bees this month – have a look and see what they got up to.

Subitising

Subitising is recognising small quantities without counting. Games involving a dice are a great way to support this skill. The children are getting quicker at shouting out the number as they recognise the dot patterns!

Practising our number recognition and sequencing. Can you do it in 30 secs, 1 minute or 3 minutes? Lots of excitement and shouting as they raced against the sand timers!

“I can do it quickly – watch!”

Outdoors

The children are continuously busy, learning and developing their skills in the outdoor area.

We have recently got new suits for so hopefully that will cut down all your washing!  Thank you for your patience.
