Welcome Green Group

🌈 Welcome Back to Nursery! 🌈

We hope you have all had a wonderful and relaxing summer holiday. We are delighted to welcome everyone back to nursery and are especially excited to welcome all of our new children and families who are joining us for the first time. We are looking forward to getting to know you and helping your little ones settle into nursery life.

The beginning of a new term is always an exciting time, filled with new friendships, experiences, learning and lots of opportunities to explore and have fun together.

The purpose of our blog is to give families a little window into nursery life and keep you up to date with the learning experiences your child is has on offer with us.

Our blog will be updated monthly and will share some of the exciting things happening across the nursery, as well as helpful information and reminders for families.

🧸 Settling in and Starting Nursery

We understand that starting nursery or returning after the holidays can bring lots of different emotions for children and families. Please be assured that our team is here to support every child as they settle into their new routines.

We will spend time getting to know each child, finding out about their interests and helping them to feel happy, safe and confident in their nursery environment.

📖 Sharing Your Child’s Learning

We love sharing the wonderful things your children do and learn with you. There are several ways you can see what your child has been getting up to at nursery…

📚 Children’s Journals

Your child’s learning journal is a special record of their experiences, interests, achievements and development. We use observations, photographs and examples of their learning to capture those important moments and help you see how your child is progressing.

We will send the journal home termly and we would encourage you to look through your child’s journal with them and talk about their experiences. Your comments and contributions are also a lovely way to help us build a picture of your child’s learning journey.

🖼️ Monthly Learning Posters

Each month we will share a ‘What is coming up’ poster to keep you informed of upcoming events in the nursery.

These posters will be:

  • 📧 Emailed out to families
  • 🏡 Displayed in the nursery foyer
  • 📰 Shared through our nursery newsletter

We hope these will give you a little window into nursery life and provide lots of ideas for conversations with your child about what they have been doing.

🏡 Getting to Know Our Nursery

For our new families, we thought we would introduce some of the wonderful spaces your children have access to throughout their day.

🌿 Our Indoor & Outdoor Environment

⏰ A Typical Day at Nursery

Our day has a flexible structure which allows children to follow their interests and make choices about their learning.

We use a free-flow approach, meaning children have opportunities to move between our indoor and outdoor environments throughout the day. Our staff are here to support children’s play, extend their learning and introduce new experiences based on their interests.

Although our day is flexible, we have some important routines which provide children with consistency and security.

 Rolling snack: 9.15am – 10.30 am

A selection of healthy fruit, cereal, crackers, toast, milk and water are on offer for the children to self-serve with adult supervision.

🍽️ Lunch: 11.30 am

Lunch is an opportunity for children to sit together, enjoy their food and develop their independence and social skills.

💛 Nurture Time: 2.20 – 2.45 pm

This provides time where children gather together with their group and key workers to participate in a variety of experiences.

🔔 A Little Help at Collection Time

We would really appreciate families helping us to maintain a calm environment for the children during the afternoon.

Where possible, if your child is being collected at 3pm, please avoid buzzing the door before 2.45pm. This allows our team to remain focused on the children during nurture time.

We completely understand that there may be occasions when you need to collect your child earlier. If plans change, please just let a member of the team know and we will be happy to help.

Thank you for helping us to keep our nursery environment calm and uninterrupted for the children. 💛

📖 Travelling Tales

Each week, a book is chosen by your child to bring home, allowing them to enjoy it together with their family. We encourage families to spend time reading, talking about the story, looking at the pictures and sharing their thoughts.

Travelling Tales helps children to develop their communication and language skills while also encouraging a lifelong love of reading. Please keep an eye out for more information about this in your child’s bag over the next few weeks. 📚✨

💡 Helpful Information & Gentle Reminders

As we begin our new term, here are a few little reminders to help your child’s day at nursery run smoothly:

  • 💧 Water bottle: Please make sure your child brings a clearly labelled water bottle each day.
  • 👕 Change of clothes: We encourage every child to have a spare set of clothes at nursery. Our children love exploring, creating and getting messy, so accidents and muddy adventures are all part of the fun!
  • 🏷️ Labels: Please label clothing, bags, water bottles and other belongings with your child’s name.
  • ☔ Weather: We aim to make the most of our outdoor environment throughout the year, so please help us by providing appropriate clothing for the weather.

Thank you for your continued support and for working in partnership with us.

💕 Here’s to a Wonderful Year!

We are looking forward to getting to know our new children and families, reconnecting with our returning families and creating lots of wonderful memories together.

We can’t wait to see what this year brings!
