Sports Day

Thank you for all coming to our nursery sports day, it was a glorious day. The children enjoyed the chance to show their friends and families all the gross motor skills they have been developing over the last year in nursery.

School Role Play

With some of the children moving on to school after the summer there has been a lot of discussion about their classrooms and what to expect. Through discussions the children wished the home corner to be changed into a school where they could experience some of the activities they will at school, for example completing targets and wearing school uniform.

NO SCOTLAND, NO PARTY!

Everyone was full of excitement on Monday to celebrate Scotland’s win in the World Cup for their first game. We watched the highlights from the game and spent the day dancing to Scottish songs.

We hope you all have an amazing summer! A massive Good Luck to all the children leaving us to go on their next adventure in P1! It has been a pleasure having you all in the Blue group and we hope you come back and visit us in August with your uniforms on.

Our awards this month go to…

April and May

Welcome to our April and May blog.

The children have really enjoyed making their easter nest cakes.  They listened well to the instructions and took turns of spooning the mixture into the paper cases.  They enjoyed chatting about their plans for spring break and were excited about the Easter bunny Visiting!

We have welcomed a new friend into the blue group this term!

We have had lots of fun moving and dancing expressively to music with ribbons.

The children have been enjoying lots of problem solving activities.  They have been developing their observation skills while making mosaic and wooden shape art.  They have also  enjoyed building and sequencing using the calculation sticks and caterpillar cubes.  We  have been exploring measure with the measuring snakes and have also enjoyed being creative with the cactus peg game and rainbow tile circle game.

The children have been learning about how things grow.  Some of the children planted cress seeds which grew very quickly.  We made some cress and cucumber sandwiches.  We have also enjoyed the story Jasper’s Beanstalk.  We planted our own runner beans and have been looking after them by giving them drinks of water and making sure they have plenty of sunlight.  They are taking a little bit longer to grow but are finally sprouting and we are enjoying watching them grow!

Our achievements from this month and last month from the blue group. Well Done!

February

Welcome to our February blog.  This month the children have been learning about and celebrating Chinese New Year.  They have enjoyed the traditional story about the animal race, trying prawn crackers for snack and experimenting with Chinese calligraphy to write numbers.

We welcomed our families to stay and play. We had so much fun sharing all our learning experiences with them.

We have been learning about healthy food and discussing our likes and dislikes. The children have enjoyed playing food bingo and have followed instructions and taken turns well. We have been sorting fruits and vegetables,  discussing where they grow and doing surveys to find out peoples favourite fruits and vegetables.

In the construction area the children have been exploring forces and creating ramps for the cars to go up and down. They have enjoyed creating elaborate models and working together to bring their ideas to life.

Our awards this month go to…

Well done 🙂

See you back here next month.

Problem Solving Jigsaw Style..

The children have been concentrating really hard to complete various sizes of jigsaws. They have been learning the importance of looking at the jigsaw picture on the box and learning what the different types of pieces are e.g. corner, straight edge in order to help them do their jigsaw.

Hallowe’en is coming…

The children have had lots of fun in the mud kitchen making pumpkin potions and witches spells! We have explored capacity, colour mixing and floating and sinking.

This month we celebrated 2 more achievements within the blue group…

We would like to remind everyone that Monday is our day to visit the library in the family room to pick a new travelling tales book.  Once your child has finished exploring their book at home please return the book inside the blue bag to the box in the foyer area. We ask that it is returned by the following Monday so that they have the opportunity to pick another book. If your child does not attend nursery on a Monday they will have the opportunity to select a book on a different day.

See you back here next month for another blog update,
