October

The blue group have started brushing their teeth at nurture time. Along with learning to brush their teeth the children have been learning good hygiene and how to identify their toothbrush by the symbol on it.

Problem Solving Jigsaw Style..

The children have been concentrating really hard to complete various sizes of jigsaws. They have been learning the importance of looking at the jigsaw picture on the box and learning what the different types of pieces are e.g. corner, straight edge in order to help them do their jigsaw.

Hallowe’en is coming…

The children have had lots of fun in the mud kitchen making pumpkin potions and witches spells! We have explored capacity, colour mixing and floating and sinking.

.

This month we celebrated 2 more achievements within the blue group…

We would like to remind everyone that Monday is our day to visit the library in the family room to pick a new travelling tales book.  Once your child has finished exploring their book at home please return the book inside the blue bag to the box in the foyer area. We ask that it is returned by the following Monday so that they have the opportunity to pick another book. If your child does not attend nursery on a Monday they will have the opportunity to select a book on a different day.

See you back here next month for another blog update,

Mrs Reynolds  & Miss Ramsay

September 2025

The trees are starting to change colour and the weather is becoming colder which means it must be September.  This month the nursery had its first stay and play session, where parents/carers were invited in to learn through play that was led by their child.  The blue group had lots of fun showing you all their favourite areas that they enjoy learning in.

In preparation for Christmas we have been drawing our Christmas card designs which we are all super excited for you to see. You will soon have the opportunity to buy the children’s designs if you wish as Christmas cards, present tags, mugs etc.

We have really been enjoying Miss Ramsay’s weekly music session. We have been exploring sounds and rhythm with musical instruments.

Well done to the children in the blue group who received an award this month! The awards are given following the school and nursery values of kindness, confidence and respect.

Rights Respecting Committee

This academic year the children in the blue group will be part of the Rights Respecting Committee. This month we talked about the UN Convention for the Rights of the Child and what some of those rights mean. We selected 6 rights from the charter and the group voted for what 3 they felt were the most important to them.

The children use SIMOA the elephant to help risk assess and learn about the ways to stay safe. SIMOA had great fun visiting the gym hall and joining in with our activities.

See you back here soon,

Miss Ramsay and Mrs Reynolds

Welcome back to all our existing families and a big hello to our new families joining us this session. We hope you all had an amazing summer.

The children are all super excited to start their nursery journey for the new session and have been settling into nursery life. We have  been playing outside, getting familiar with snack time and lunch time routines, visiting the gym hall for our weekly session and getting to know everyone’s names at nurture time.

We welcomed some new friends to the blue group

Just a gentle reminder of some important nursery information –

  • Can you please make sure your child has indoor shoes to change into when they arrive at nursery (preferably not crocs).
  • A Monday is our main day for access to the gym hall, please ensure appropriate footwear is worn on this day and earrings are removed.
  • The Blue Groups Travelling Tales day is a Monday, please remember to bring your bag and book back each week and place it in the drop box in the foyer. Any children not in on a Monday will have an opportunity to pick a book another day.
  • If children can please have spare clothes in bags in case of accidents and/or wet and muddy play.
  • If possible please provide a pair of wellies for outdoor play.
  • During the warm weather could we please ask that sun cream is applied prior to attending nursery and a labelled bottle of sun cream is provided for the staff to then top up in the afternoon.
