Meeting Learner Needs

Inclusive Practice in East Renfrewshire

Vocational Programme

Vocational Programme

Senior pupils in East Renfrewshire Schools have an opportunity to participate in the vocational programme, which plays a significant part in helping to prepare pupils for life after school – university, college or a career.  Our vocational courses can offer pupils a real chance to have a quality experience provided by one of our partner colleges, universities, employers or training providers.   In some cases, work placements feature in courses, offering relevant experience in the work place.

There are many vocational opportunities providing high quality training, targeted to meet the broadest range of pupil needs as part of their senior phase school options process.

At East Renfrewshire Council our vocational programme courses are developed predominately towards future job opportunities and to the needs of employers.  The programme aims to ensure that on leaving school, young people are better equipped with the necessary skills and competencies for them to succeed in today’s competitive employment environment.

Young people have the opportunity to be equipped with strong core skills – numeracy, literacy and communications skills, relevant work experience and the right attitude for the workplace.

The vocational programme can provide employers with references from a College/Training Provider who work with the young person for a minimum of 29 weeks and Vocational progress reports from College/Training Providers.
