The Education Resource Group (ERG) meets approximately every 6 weeks to consider the progress of East Renfrewshire’s most vulnerable children and young people and review the impact of resources that are being put in place. The ERG leads decision making on the allocation of resources and placement of children and young people who require support from our specialist provisions within Carlibar Communication Service, Williamwood Communication Service, St John’s SEBN Outreach Service, and Isobel Mair School.
The group considers referrals from Educational Psychologists on behalf of schools where additional resources are being sought over and above the schools own, in order to meet learner needs. Educational Psychologists must submit referral paperwork and the school is required to submit a robust, evaluated wellbeing plan that details the child’s strengths and needs, their targets, as well as previous and current supports. These are then considered by the group in reference to the standards for inclusion that have been proven to be achievable through best practice within mainstream schools in East Renfrewshire. This level of moderation, support and challenge seeks to promote equity of experience and opportunity for children and young people, equity of resource allocation and ensure best value for all of our stakeholders.
