Within educational establishments, wellbeing concerns should be raised with the named person through the completion of this form:Raising a Wellbeing Concern
On receiving a wellbeing concern the named person should ask themselves the following six key questions:
- What is getting in the way of this child or young person’s wellbeing?
- Do I have all the information I need to help this child or young person?
- What can I do now to help this child or young person?
- What can my agency/service do to help this child or young person?
- What additional help, if any, may be needed from other services/agencies?
- What is the view of the child and family?
Following this initial assessment the named person will be in a better position to determine whether the child or young person’s needs can continue to be met at the universal stage or whether a wellbeing assessment and plan is required to further explore and meet the child/young person’s needs (Stage 1).
Child Protection Concerns
Where the named person, or another member of staff, identifies child protection concerns immediate action should be taken in keeping with existing child protection procedures.
