Our Mearns Masters pathway this term is Campaigning and the children have chosen to tackle litter. Today we were lucky to welcome Joe, one of the Dams to Darnley Rangers, who shared with the children today the dangers that litter presents to animals.
Plum Crumble
Today in our food technology area the children were making plum crumble. They used their cutting skills to chop up the plums and their rubbing and mixing skills to create the oat crumble.
Weighing and measuring the ingredients was a great way to explore our numbers too!
Then all the ingredients were put together and everyone waited patiently for the crumble to cook.
We are loving cooking and baking at nursery, not to mention trying the delicious things we make!
Learning at Home
To support learning at home we have a range of resources available for families to borrow. In the foyer there are bags and folders to support:
Story telling
Rhyming
Numeracy and mathematics
Science
There is also a lending library. All of the resources are there for families to borrow, there are no sign out sheets and resources can be kept for as long as you are enjoying them.
Returned learning resources should be placed in the clear plastic boxes in the foyer where they will be quarantined for 72h.
If you have any questions regarding the learning at home resources please post you query in the comments or speak to a member of nursery staff.
Puddle Suits and Wellies
At Mearns Nursery children have free flow access to the outdoors and we love playing and learning in nature. Please could you send in a puddle suit and pair of wellies for your child to support their outdoor learning.
Welcome
Hello and welcome to Mearns Nursery Blog!
We have been delighted to welcome both new and returning children into the nursery this week, it has been lovely to see them all and have the nursery full of fun and laughter once again.
The nursery blog allows you to see what the children are doing in nursery as well as keeping you up to date with nursery news. Families are welcome to leave comments on posts and we are always happy to hear suggestions as to the things you would like to see featured.
