Food Technology Fun This Week
We made sweet and savoury delights such as bread sticks and biscuits to explore letters. We ended the week promoting healthy eating as we made yummy fruit salads.
Pizza Time
Today is fun Friday so we started our celebrations by making bagel pizzas! The children enjoyed spreading on the sauce, chopping up the vegetables and sprinkling on the cheese.
Learning Together At Home
In Mearns Nursery we have a range of resources to support families in learning together at home. In the nursery foyer there are:
Story bags
Rhyming bags and folders
Numeracy and Mathematics bags
Fiction and nonfiction books
All of these resources are available for families to borrow, there is no signing out procedure and resources can be kept for as long as your family are enjoying them.
2D Shape
Further adventures in 2D shape today with the children using geo boards and bands to make 2D shape pictures and in the mark making area they explored different ways of drawing them.
Magic Muffins
Yesterday in our food technology area the children used the excess bananas to make healthy muffins. They took care measuring out the ingredients, worked hard to mash the bananas and to mix everything together.
After they spooned the mixture into muffin cases cases they were placed into the oven to cook. The smell of them cooking was amazing!
At the final taste test they were voted a great success.
Junk Request
The children are keen to develop their junk modelling, please can you send clean junk into the nursery to allow the children to continue building their ideas.
Counting and Pattern
The children uncovered a bag of sticks today and quickly embedded them into their play. They used them to thread rings onto in a repeating pattern and then they counted how many there were.
