Hi everyone! Just a small post this week, here’s some pictures of us taking part in Mearns Masters this afternoon! We are learning all about honey bees. We played splat, played the bee-drive dice game, labelled the bee body and used our magnifying glasses to explore bees, flowers and a real life honey comb! Well done to our 4 Bee Masters who helped the lead the learning you worked super hard!!

What a busy week we had this week p2.5!

We had our spooky sports day, everyone looked fabulous in their costumes! We had so much fun taking part in different sports day activities.

We took part in some spooky art activities on Tuesday during iPlay. We made monsters from different materials, used our cutting and sticking skills to make pumpkins, drew scary witches and Frankensteins and used watercolour paints to do some spiderweb art!

For maths we were learning about vertical addition! We used chalk to work out the answers to our questions on the playground floor.

During literacy learning we got creative and wrote descriptions for our very own monsters! On Friday we closed our eyes and listened to a fire works display, we imagined what we would be able to smell, taste, hear, see and feel if we were there. We used these senses to write a fireworks night poem.

Have a great weekend and enjoy watching the fireworks on Sunday! See you on Monday.

Bake Sale

Hi everyone! This week has been our busiest week yet in primary 2.5! We had our Glasgow Children’s Hospital bake sale today, something we have been working towards over the last few weeks. The children worked so hard for this bake sale and I am super proud of everyone involved! A special thanks to our photographers Manali and Mankeerat for capturing all of these great pictures. Thank you to everyone who came along, we raised a total of £190 for Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity!!! Have a great weekend.

Hi everyone! We have had a busy week in P2.5 this week!

In PE we have been learning ball skills! We have been practicing how to stop the ball using the sole and inside of our foot. We also know how to sensibly pass the ball to one another using our feet!

For maths we have been learning more about missing number, shape and pattern.

In literacy we have been practicing our writing, sequencing and had great fun with our Friday active phonics! We were spelling our words using magnetic letters, sand, rice and play dough. We were also using white crayons and coloured pencils to write our spelling words.

For iplay this week we got creative in Miss Kelly’s class and made autumn leaf art using chalk and black paper.

Lastly, for Mearns masters we made white choc and raspberry flapjacks. We were so sensible when using the hot stove, we worked so well as a team. Our flapjacks looked so good!!!

WB – 2/10/23

Hi everyone, another super busy week for us!

On Friday following the strikes we made cupcakes! They tasted so good. Today for Mearns Masters we made fruit kebabs! We practiced our cutting skills and spoke about how to safely hold and use a knife.

For maths this week some of us were recapping 2D shapes, we made shape pizzas and counted the number of 2D shapes on our pizza. Some of us broke the class rules for a day and drew all over our desks! We worked on our missing number calculations and used whiteboard pens to map out the steps we must take to solve the missing number.

For iPlay we made autumn trees using broccoli to help us paint and print the leaves!!

Hi everyone! We had a great week this week!

We read a book called ‘the dot’ and learned all about having a growth mindset! We got creative and made dot paintings just like Vashti in the story. We used pencils to stamp the paint dots onto our paper.

We heard presentations from our fabulous leadership committee candidates, the new leaders will be revealed at our leadership assembly soon!

For iplay we imagined we were pirates, we searched the sand for treasure! We also had a spooky witch and a new teacher in our class!

To end the week we were in the kitchen cooking up some lovely scones! We measured out our ingredients using scales, made wells in our flour, kneaded the dough, cut our scones out and gave them an egg wash before popping them in the oven. I hope they taste as good as they smell!

WB: 04/09/23

Hi everyone! Primary 2.5 have had a busy week!

In maths we have been learning all about money! Some of us have been looking at 2D and 3D shapes, some of us have been looking at measuring through weighing!

In literacy we worked on phonics, reading and we had some story writing with Mr Duncan.

We learned all about the word religion and had some group discussions about our beliefs and different religions all over the world.

We took part in iPlay2 where in the imagination classroom we imagined we were scientists in a lab! We made potions and carried out experiments to test what colours we could make from the primary colours.

For our Mearns Masters this week we were back in the kitchen! We made puff pastry pizzas, we practiced spreading the sauce, grating cheese and learned how to season our food!

Once all photo permission slips have been returned, we will be able to post pictures of our lovely smiling faces! Have a great weekend everyone.

WB 28.08.23

It’s been a pleasure teaching in P2.5 this week and we’ve had a lot of fun!

In maths, we were outdoors working on adding and subtracting with the help of some P6 pupils.

In literacy, we worked on phonics and tricky words and visited the library for the first time this session.

We learned about creating safe passwords and made up our own for glow.

We enjoyed taking part in iPlay, making discoveries, using our imagination or exploring the outdoors.

We visited the kitchen and made jammy twists. I hope they tasted as good as they looked.

Once all photo permissions have been returned, we’ll be able to add pictures with smiling faces for you to see in the coming weeks.

Thank you

Mrs Mossman
