Vietnam

Today we learned all about Vietnam as we are about to start our communications with a school there! We will be making pen pals and having video chats with the children and we are super excited.

Here are some pictures of the children trying on the traditional non la hat and using a Vietnamese fan. Primary 2.5 took these pictures for themselves during our lesson.

STEM leaders

Today the STEM leaders came to visit us! We completed 5 different STEM activities with them that helped us to explore, learn and discuss the world around us!  We developed our critical thinking, problem solving and communication skills.

Friday fun

Today we worked on our sketching skills, we learned how to hold a pencil when we sketch and practiced on a blank piece of paper before we began sketching a symmetrical image of our own faces!!! We had P.E outdoors and had a try of our adventure trail. A special mention for Euan’s show and tell this week! He done a presentation on the gladiators this week in front of the whole class!

Symmetry part 1!!

Today we practiced some symmetry skills and had great fun! We explored symmetry in nature using mirrors (some of us even tested out our own faces), painted symmetrical butterflies, worked together to create a symmetrical block image and as a class we managed to answer almost 350 symmetry questions correct on the active board!!!

Friday/Monday fun days

On Friday we put all of our practice using the ‘make do’ to good use and made some robots! We used the safe saw and push pins to create our very own moving cardboard robot friends.

Today in PE we started our gymnastic block, practicing a forward roll, pencil roll, balancing, running, jumping and climbing!

Busy January for P2.5

Here’s some lovely pictures of some of the things we have been getting up to over the last few weeks! We watched a Robert Burns story and learned all about how to write a recount of that story. We revised how to use full stops in our writing – using jelly tots! We also learned all about tally marks, we decided we wanted to find out the class’s favourite flavour of ice cream so we used a tally chart to help us. After that we put all of our tally mark data into a bar chart. We have been visiting the maker space and learned how to cut using the make do safe saw. We also learned how to attach and detach cardboard using split pins and make do screws. Finally, we got a new active board! Here’s Eilidh and Musa trying it out during some phonics.

Burns day

Well what a busy day that was! We watched Aymen perform at the burns assembly, she smashed it! We heard some lovely bag pipes. Then we read some Scottish poems and highlighted the words we thought could be Scottish slang, we labelled these words with the definition. We tried some Scottish snacks, then we learned how to do the bonnie banks of Loch Lomond dance!

A very busy Thursday 18th Jan

Hi everyone! Today has been super busy! This morning we started off with our songs and poems for the Scottish house challenge. The primary 2 winner will be announced soon! Well done to those who took part.

We read a Scottish poem called mince n tatties and spoke about Scots language. Then we used some of this Scots language in our handwriting! After break we read our books and completed some true or false tasks.

Mrs Noble came to visit and she brought her mum along with her! Mrs Noble’s mum is Gaelic, she grew up in Barra. We learned all about Barra and she even taught us a song in Gaelic.

After lunch we had some art. We were learning about primary and secondary colours. We painted some lovely fruit bowls that we are going to add some fruit to over the next week.
