We had a very fun day during values day yesterday! We started with a magic show where we met Disco and Chester the Cheeky Monkey who helped the magician perform some excellent tricks, well done to Evie for being an excellent magicians assistant!
We then had some fun jumping on the bouncy castle and enjoyed some ice cream for a snack afterwards! What a great day!
We had a lovely afternoon on Friday showcasing our Mearns Masters βGastronomersβ learning in the kitchen! We loved having our parents and siblings into our class to try our food we made and watch our video showing our 6 week learning journey! Thank you to everyone who came along and made it such a great afternoon! ππ
We had a great day dancing and partying during our ‘Thank you’ party for Miss McInulty on her last day! We talked about our favourite memory with Miss McInulty and played some party games with her! It was a great day had by all!
We had great fun with Primary 1.3 watching all of the ‘Mearns Got Talent’ auditions! We were very lucky to be entertained by an abundance of excellent talent! Well Done to all of the auditionees!
Thank you to Ava and her auntie for the wonderful pancake recipe! The boys and girls worked hard to weigh, measure and mix the pancake ingredients. We then worked on flipping the pancakes in the pan before trying our pancakes! We talked about what we liked and disliked.
During Week 1 and 2 of our Mearns Masters pathway, Gastronomers,Β we visited the Kitchen where we learned the chopping techniques of claw hold and bridge chopping technique. We used our chopping skills to chop soft and hard fruit and make fruit kebabs and smoothies. We enjoyed eating these in class and discussing our likes and dislikes.
During Week 3 of Gastronomers, we used all chopping techniques we had learned to chop tomatoes, onions and crush garlic to make salsa. We then enjoyed trying the salsa with some tortilla chips and discussing as a class the different flavours we could taste.
During our Sports Day on Friday we had great fun taking part in flat races and potted sports! π Well Done to all of our winners and to all of the boys and girls in Primary 1.4 for taking part! π
Also during our sports day, the boys and girls had a taster session of Judo with a local Judo instructor! We loved learning different Judo moves and learning ‘Konnichiwa‘ to say hello.
In Primary 1.4 we have been learning about plants and pollination. The boys and girls loved planting sunflower seeds and we are watering them everyday to hopefully see them bloom! The boys and girls have also been learning about parts of a plant and we worked hard to label each part! Well Done Primary 1.4!
We learned about the life cycle of a bird and then made bird feeders ποΈ We took them out to our forest and hung them for the birds to eat! Well Done boys and girls! π βοΈ
We have been working on doubles in numeracy and triangles worked hard to use the cubes to identify doubles to 10! Well Done triangles! π
We designed and built natural fairy houses in our forest for the fairies to live in. We worked hard and designed lovely beds, sofas, hammocks and swings for the fairies to play on! π§
