Scottish Dancing and Christmas learning!

In Physical Education, the boys and girls worked hard to learn some Scottish dancing. We had some children who were able to teach us as they have been taking Scottish dancing classes outside of school. We practised the Canadian barn dance in preparation for our Christmas party also! Well Done Primary 1.4!

The boys and girls enjoyed picking baubles to decorate our class Christmas tree! The children worked excellently as a team to place the baubles and decorate the tree together!

Candy and Cookie were busy overnight making us a Christmas train set up for our continuous provision area in class. The children enjoyed imaginary play in this area!

We read the story of ‘The Gingerbread Man’ and made gingerbread play doh! We used cutters to create gingerbread men and and used our fine motor skills to pick up and decorate our gingerbread men with different sequins!

We were kindly gifted some games into our classroom and the children had great fun playing these. We worked hard to play ‘Operation’ and use our pincer grip to grab the objects and remove them from the tray! Well Done boys and girls!

Primary 1.4 had a special visitor come to see us at Mearns Primary! Santa flew in on his sleigh and surprised us with presents and singing Christmas songs! We had a lovely morning with Santa and his elf!

St. Andrews Day! 🏴󠁧󠁒󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

We worked hard to learn lots about St. Andrew’s Day and the Scottish traditions we have in our home country. The boys and girls made saltire flags for the festivities!

We have also been working on our cutting skills cutting up paper and card to create Scottish kilts for St. Andrews Day. We all worked very hard on this!

The boys and girls chose to create a ‘stage show’ and coloured in Nessy the sea monster pictures to use as props. The ‘Nessy’ Show was excellent! Well Done Primary 1.4!

Continuous Provision Areas

We have been working very hard in Primary 1.4! The boys and girls have enjoyed spending time in the continuous provision areas working on their numeracy and literacy skills. They have also been building on their Mearns Masters learning by designing their structures before building in the construction area!
