3D Shapes

It has been a busy few weeks since we started P3.11. The children have been fantastic and settled in to the new routines well. We started back with some whole class maths work on 3D shape! We looked at the properties of a shape: sides, faces and vertices or corners. Pupils then created their own 3D shapes using coffee stirrers and blu-tak (Playdough was too squidgy).

This led us down the path of looking at pyramids, how many cubes do you need to build the pyramids… and so on! They are an inquisitive bunch which is wonderful!

We didn’t have permissions at this point so sadly there are only a few photos of some proud pupils.

Today we were learning about the coronation of King Charles and Queen Camilla. We learned about the royal family and what the coronation ceremony will involve. We also watched a little clip of the coronation in Frozen and we made our very own crowns (just like King Charles)! There was lots of role play going on pretending we were part of the ceremony!

Time Capsules

I’m super impressed with how much thought and effort the boys and girls put in to creating their time capsules. I loved the variety of items and the reasons why they were included in their box. Everyone did a great job presenting them to the rest of the class and I couldn’t believe how confident you all were. Great job everyone👍😊!

Rainforest Art!

Last week we were learning about the effect of pattern and shape in art. We decided to create some wonderful art for our rainforest role play area by focusing on patterns and colours that we could see on rainforest animals. Some of us were inspired by the red eyed frog, tiger, cayman, jaguar, parrot, toucan and different snakes. We can’t wait to add them to our role play area😊.
