We have loved our Mearns Masters Gastronomers block and have shown some fantastic skills in the kitchen! 

Each week 1.1 have been choosing the ingredients and creating their recipes then showcasing their skills in the kitchen of peeling, mixing, slicing and spreading! 

Inspired by our time spent in the kitchen, the children decided to set up our role play area within our classroom as a café! This has opened many fantastic opportunities for learning through play – creating menus, taking orders, using money and as well as taking on all the different roles within the café! 

We have been very busy in the kitchen for our Gastronomers block of our Mearns Masters!

So far we have made hummus with fresh chopped vegetables, a rainbow salad as well as salsa and guacamole! The children have enjoyed choosing lots of colourful fruit and vegetables to create  their recipes and have learned the bridge and claw techniques when using their knife.
