Visit to Mains Farm

What a glorious day for our trip to Mains Farm.

The children had a wonderful time.

“The Rooster is called Robbie, that is my name” – Robbie

“I can see a little cow in the shed, it is called a calf” – Caleb

“The cows are enormous” – Jack

“Each cow has a yellow tag with a number on it” – Harris

“If it rains the cows have somewhere to shelter” – Yasmin

“The calf sucked my jacket, I think it wanted to eat it” – Ellie

” My thumb must taste nice, it was sucking my thumb.  It felt wet and soggy” – Max

We washed our hands thoroughly before leaving the farm.

“The cows are milked twice a day, 4.30am and the other at 3.00pm” – Mr Strang

Thank you Mr Strang for a most enjoyable and educational visit.

What a treat!

Science Experiment!

Mr Strang from Mains Farm came to visit our class.  We were learning how to plant our own potatoes.

Each day we will water the tubs to help them grow.

Josie – “The potatoes need water, light and mud to grow”.

I have helped to grow plants and can name their basic parts.
I can talk about how they grow and what I need to do to look after them.

Book Week Scotland

Book Week Scotland is taking place from Monday 27 November  – Sunday 3 December 2017.

It  is a week-long celebration of books and reading that takes place every November.  As part of EPS celebrations the children in P 2.2 will take part in a Drop Everything And Read initiative.

Our first  D.E.A.R  opportunity today was a resounding success.  Well done!

Outdoor Learning and Autumn IDL

This week we have been working on a mini IDL project all about autumn.  We kick started this with a walk in the school grounds where we foraged for autumn objects.  This inspired us to write autumn poems and create autumn art work.  Our Autumn poems contained some fabulous describing words!

“Autumn is red leaves.

Autumn is spiky conkers.

Autumn is hibernating hedgehogs.

Autum is spooky Halloween.

Autumn is colourful fireworks.”

Caleb Lindie

“I love Autumn because I can collect conkers in the Orry.”
