I have explored symmetry in my own and the wider environment and can create and recognise symmetrical pictures, patterns and shapes. MTH 1-19a
We have been using mirrors to identify symmetry in the classroom and we made our own symmetrical pictures.
I have explored simple 3D objects and 2D shapes and can identify, name and describe their features using appropriate vocabulary. MTH 1-16a
We have been identifying 3D shapes. We knew all of their names and correctly matched up each shape with it’s name. We found items in the classroom and identified which 3D shape they were.
We also described each shape by finding out how many faces, edges and corners/vertices they have.
We then made 3D shapes using 2D shape nets.
I can estimate how long or heavy an object is, or what amount it holds, using everyday things as a guide, then measure or weigh it using appropriate instruments and units. MNU 1-11a
We have been measuring in metres and centimetres.
LI: To use a metre stick
We have been looking at the measurements of Flat Stanley and comparing our heights.
Most of us are taller than Flat Stanley.
We drew around each other and measured the height of our outline using a metre stick.
We also created bar graphs to show how many of our group are the same height, taller than and smaller than Flat Stanley.
We painted a full size picture of Flat Stanley.
We had to measure in centimetres to create our kites.
We hope you like our Flat Stanley’s. We used pattern, shape and different textures to dress him.
Luke P – Making Flat Stanley was fun.
Blake – I liked making Flat Stanley.
All of our class have settled in really well and are enjoying being big primary 3’s. We have written about our summer holidays and shared our stories with the class. We have been revising our numeracy skills and have made our Class Charter. But best of all, we had our first Golden Time.
Cara – I loved coming into P3. Everyone is so kind.
Hi Primary 2.1,
I just wanted to say that I have really enjoyed looking through your class blog. It looks like you have been doing some really exciting things. I loved the photos of your STEM workshop and it was great to see how much you enjoyed your trip to the farm. I’m sure you’ll continue to have great experiences in the build up to the holidays and your transition to Primary 3.
Mr Masters
STEM ( Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths)
During outdoor learning, Primary 2.1 used the loose parts within our school grounds.
The children demonstrated creativity and confidence in engaging with the resources, whilst identifying and managing risks.
P2 enjoyed a wonderful sunny morning at Mains Farm.

Thank you to Mr and Mrs Strang for inviting P2 to your dairy farm.
Mr Strang from Mains Farm came to visit our class. We were learning how to plant our own potatoes.
Each day we will water the tubs to help them to grow.
Mr Strang has invited P2 to enjoy a tour of his farm. We are looking forward to learning about the workings of a dairy farm.
