3D SHAPE SORTER

I have explored simple 3D objects and 2D shapes and can identify, name and describe their features using appropriate vocabulary. MTH 1-16a

We have been identifying 3D shapes. We knew all of their names and correctly matched up each shape with it’s name. We found items in the classroom and identified which 3D shape they were.

We also described each shape by finding out how many faces, edges and corners/vertices they have.

We then made 3D shapes using 2D shape nets.

FLAT STANLEY MEASURING

I can estimate how long or heavy an object is, or what amount it holds, using everyday things as a guide, then measure or weigh it using appropriate instruments and units. MNU 1-11a

We have been measuring in metres and centimetres.

LI: To use a metre stick

We have been looking at the measurements of Flat Stanley and comparing our heights.

Most of us are taller than Flat Stanley.

We drew around each other and measured the height of our outline using a metre stick.

We also created bar graphs to show how many of our group are the same height, taller than and smaller than Flat Stanley.

We painted a full size picture of Flat Stanley.

We had to measure in centimetres to create our kites.

We hope you like our Flat Stanley’s. We used pattern, shape and different textures to dress him.

Luke P – Making Flat Stanley was fun.

Blake – I liked making Flat Stanley.
