• most Hebrew words have a root of three letters. Many words that are related can be built with the same root.

• there is no verb TO BE in HEBREW in the present. It is simply implied. You do not say  I AM TALL  but you say  I TALL.

There is no verb ‘to be’ in Hebrew in the present, so we can’t say AM ARE or IS. In English I need 3 words to say I AM HAPPY. In Hebrew it is just 2 words. There is no AM so we say I HAPPY – [ani sameaH] –

In Hebrew, there is no word for it. We say ‘I wear shirt’.

‘I’ is the subject and it’s happening in the past.

•  זה\זאת [zeh/zot] means THIS.

To say THIS IS, you simply say THIS because we have no word for IS.

Example:

זה הספר   [Zeh hasefer]  = This (is) the book.

•  ה [ha] means THE. It always comes attached to the next word.

Example:

הספר [hasefer] –) the book.
