As part of our Israel 70 project and our Travel and Transport social studies topic, Primary 1 have been investigating ships and how they work. We loved hearing the story behing the ship ‘Atzmauth’ and how it was used to bring people to Israel.
We decided as a class we wanted to create our own model ship just like Atzmauth, and started to collect junk. A big thank you to our grown ups at home who provided us with this!
This week we learned about the different parts of a ship and how they make the ship go. We looked at the funnels, propellers, superstructure, bow, stern, decks and the anchor. Miss Lindsay and Mrs Carlton were blown away by how much P1 knew about ships!
We then used this knowledge to sort our junk into parts of a ship piles to help us with our modeling. Stay tuned to see the final results!
