P7s new topic in science is dissolving and recently we have done some experimenting.

Our experiment was to see what is soluble and what is insoluble. We experimented using:

• Rice
• Sand
• Flour
• Sweetener powder
• Salt
• Coffee powder
• Cold water (100m l)
• Spoon
• Ruler

We thought of a hypothesis and everyone agreed that the sand and rice weren’t going to dissolve. You need to add water to rice when cooking it and there’s sand at the bottom of the sea. We knew that coffee was going to dissolve because that’s how you make coffee. The rest of the solids we weren’t sure of but we found out in the experiment that sweetener dissolved, the flour didn’t and for the salt there was a variety of results.
