Important Information

Last week all children were issued with their glow username and password.  Glow can be accessed via the following link. It allows children to make use of many apps including Microsoft Office.  https://glow.rmunify.com/

Today,  all children have been issued with a home learning letter for accessing See Saw. See Saw allows children to access and publish work online. Please try to download the app onto an electronic device or via the website. All instructions are on the page and we have issued an activity for the children to reply to at home.  https://app.seesaw.me

We have also given every child their Education City username. Education City has a variety of Literacy, Numeracy, Science and Computing games. Classwork and Homework can also be issued for each child to access. https://www.educationcity.com

As we have increased the frequency with which we are washing hands, many children have mentioned their hands are sore. If you wish to provide your son/daughter with hand cream/moisturiser to use in class then please feel free.

Homework and thank you!

Good morning,

Firstly, thank you so much for coming along and participating in our assemblies on Friday. We had a wonderful time and thoroughly enjoyed performing for you.

Secondly,  thank you so much from Miss MacArthur (soon to be Mrs Blyth!) for the extremely kind wedding gift. I really was so touched and we are both so incredibly grateful. The children are more than welcome to come along and throw some confetti on the 28th March (if it goes ahead!!) at about 2pm at Harelaw Farm, Fenwick.

Finally, please find attached our homework sheet for this week. As we are updating our technology use within school, children may be issued with some passwords and usernames for use at home and school. We will try to provide as much information as possible with these on the blog as this happens.

Homework and Assembly Information

Homework

The next few weeks are going to be very busy in Primary 3. We have our parent assemblies coming up, Reverend Boag is coming in to talk to us and we are hoping to organise a trip.

Because of this, the next few weeks in class will be spent consolidating the previous sounds taught in Primary 3 and focussing on other aspects of literacy such as sequencing, cloze procedures and comprehension strategies. For extension, children can work on sentence structure adding adverbs, similes and adjectives. After the Easter holidays we will go back to introducing new sounds and common words.  Many Thanks!!

Assembly

We are very much looking forward to welcoming our parents and carers from 3c.1 and 3c.2  at our assemblies next Friday.  Pupils can wear an 80’s accessory if they wish e.g. scrunchies, leg warmers, denim jackets etc

Here is a quick reminder of our assembly times:

P3c.1 – 11.00am – 11.30am

P3c.2 – 1.30pm- 2.00pm

If the children could please practise the script for the assembly  at home focusing on speaking with a loud, clear voice and with expression. Parents make sure you don’t look at the answers to our Quiz as you will also be joining in on the day.

3C2 Assembly Script

Good afternoon,

Next week is our parent assembly and we would love if the children could practise their lines. They don’t need to memorise them as we will be providing copies on the day but we are looking for lots of enthusiasm and expression!

Parents don’t go looking at the answers – you’re getting quizzed on the day too!!

World Book Day

We really enjoyed sharing our props and reading our favourite books with each other today. We discussed why we enjoyed the book and who our favourite character was.

Wedding Bells!

On Wednesday we had a fantastic day celebrating our weddings. We held 6 ceremonies, 2 Muslim, 2 Christian and 2 Hindu. We learned so much about the key traditions of these weddings and enjoyed acting some of them out to our special visitors.

Fairtrade Fortnight

Dear Parent/Carer,

Our Fairtrade Pupil Group members have been working very hard to promote Fairtrade Fortnight which starts on Monday 24 February and finishes on Sunday 8 March 2020.

As preparation for Fairtrade Fortnight the Primary 4 pupil group members conducted a survey to find out which treats children would like to buy at the tuck shop we are planning to run. A subgroup of Primary 5s created posters to advertise the tuck shop around the school. The older members of the pupil group will be giving a speech and showing a PowerPoint to the rest of the school to raise awareness of Fairtrade. The Primary 7 members created a rota for the tuck shop (see below).

We would like to invite children to bring in cash to buy a Fairtrade treat from the tuck shop. We will be offering Geobake chocolate chip cookies, a variety of Divine chocolate bars and Fairtrade Jellybeans. The tuck shop will be running from Monday 2nd March until Friday 6th March. All items are £1.10 so please send your child with the correct amount if possible.

  • Monday 2nd March – Primary 1 and Primary 2
  • Tuesday 3rd March – Primary 3
  • Wednesday 4th March – Primary 4 and Primary 5
  • Thursday 5th March – Primary 6
  • Friday 6th March – Primary 7
