This week for writing we used our senses to help us create a spooky setting. We discussed what we might hear, see and smell in a haunted house. To help us think of the things we might touch/feel we had to put our hands in some mystery Halloween boxes.
We have been learning about angles and direction. We have been learning how to create a set of directions using code on the computer. We all really enjoyed using this website, why not try giving it a go at home?
Today we had a special visit from some furry friends called Tiny, Cookies and Cuddles. We learned lots of interesting information about the owls and compared an owls feather to a hawks feather. We were so brave and even got to hold the owls. Have a look at some of our pictures below.
This week we have been learning about angles in class. We made right angle finders to check if we could find any in our classroom. We noticed that our jotters, the board and the tables all had right angles.
Can you help us find any more right angles at home?
Over the last few weeks P3c.1 have been exploring different bridges across the world. They have investigated which shapes are used to make bridges strong and stable and discovered that it is cylinders, triangles and arches. They worked in groups to plan and design a bridge that was 1 metre in length, 30cm in width and 40cm high.
This week is the last week of covering the Stage 2 programme for phonics. Next week is a consolidation/assessment week so if you could please send in the homework jotters on Monday 28th October as we will be updating them. Please see attached this terms homework grid which can be started as of next week. The homework jotters will be coming home week beginning 4th November. You will then have the rest of the term to work your way through the grid and we will request the jotters in for our next consolidation week closer to the end of term.
Over the last few weeks 3c.2 have been learning about germs. Today we looked at how germs would look under a microscope and then tried to replicate them using play dough. We also used a special machine to show us the importance of washing our hands properly. We put a special glitter bug cream on our hands and then we washed them. When we put our hands under the lamp it showed us where the bugs were still living on our hands. We were really shocked by how many germs were still there after washing! We then learned how to wash our hands properly and tried again. This time we were much more successful at getting rid of the germs.
We learned that we should sing happy birthday twice through when washing our hands to make sure we washed them for long enough. Some of us gave it a go!
We had a special visitor from a charity called Money Advice Scotland. We took part in a fun quiz about money, ordered all of the coins and notes and then had to match our shopping items to how much money we had. We really enjoyed our visit ☺️
