Literacy:
·       Spelling – Learn lists A,B and C: * Purple – Book 3 Unit 18 * Pink – Book 3 Unit 9 * Yellow – Book 2 Unit 18 ·       It’s gardening week! Write a description of an outdoor space (e.g. your garden) on a piece of paper. Use at least 10 adjectives and underline them/write them in a different colour. You could sketch a picture or include a picture of the space you are describing at the bottom of your writing. |

 The elections are coming to a end, the parties are really excited, nervous and some more promises have been made.
The Hawks will promise 5 minute extra break and lunch.
The bee party promise 2 week homework and the 3rd week there is no homework and 1 day fit n 15 and one day free-play.
The winning party promise to add changing rooms to the school.
The jaguars promise to build a stronger fairer Kirkhill for all of us.
Finally The Dare Devils promise two mindfulness minutes.

It’s another day at the elections and all the teams are really busy doing posters and speeches. I have interviewed all the party leaders and this is what they said:
“To get noticed we will put bright attractive posters up near the P4a class.” – Hawks
“We will make the world equal so the odd people out don’t get bullied.” -The Bee Party
“To get noticed we will put a big bright and attractive poster near the P4a class and mini posters round about the school.” – The Winning Party)
“To get noticed we will make a difference to the world, like stop global warming and stop deforestation.” – The Jaguars
“We are the Dare Devils we will do anything to make anyone happy.” – The Dare Devils
The election has been postponed to Thursday the 2nd May, so stay tuned for more updates! That’s all for today.

It’s day 3 and the parties have all started their posters and the Premier Party have re-branded themselves as the Jaguars. The atmosphere is really nervous because elections are almost a week away! On Friday 26th April, the party leaders will each give a speech to the P4s who will vote for there favourite. The winning party will get to pick the seating arrangements in the P6b class for one week!
Work is still continuing on the political campaigns, most of the parties are not yet finished, but… The competition is on!

It’s the second day of the elections and the parties have started their posters and we have more manifestos to report on! The Dare Devils will promise 2 task homework and and it will be a bit easier and it will be cut down to 3 weeks due to stress. The Premier Party promise to try to do everything they say and improve air quality and cut air pollution. The Winning Party promise to stop bullying and get new library books. The Hawks promise chairs to sit on during assemblies. The Bee Party will extend Friday fun by 15 mins. That’s all for today’s blog. I will report more on day 3!

The elections have started today! there are 5 parties the Hawks, the The bees, the Winning Party, the Premier Party and the Dare Devils. Each party has started preparing their speech. The Hawks have promised 2 minute breaks between lessons and to change a small bathroom into a changing room!

Food and Drink Federation (FDF) Scotland are delighted to work with Brakes Scotland to launch the 2019 Braw Lunch Brake Challenge with partners, Royal Highland Education Trust, ASSIST FM, Education Scotland, Skills Development Scotland and Developing Young Workforce.
This competition is open to all P5, 6 and 7 pupils across Scotland. FDF are looking for the industry stars of the future.
Your Task
We would like pupils to develop an innovative, healthy dish that includes local Scottish produce that would appeal to them and their fellow pupils?Â
The winning entrant from each stage will then be asked to prepare their healthy dish and serve it to the Leadership Team on Wednesday 8 May 2019. The winning dish will then be submitted to the national competition.

What happens once the winning entry from Kirkhill Primary has been decided?
Friday 10th May
Initial dish ideas from each team/school to be submitted. A team of judges from the partner organisations will then select ‘the best 6’ healthy dish ideas to go onto a grand final at City of Glasgow College.
Friday 17th May
Schools will be contacted no later than Friday 17th May on whether they have made the final.
