Warm Colours and Cool Colours

I can create and present work that shows developing skill in using the visual elements and concepts. EXA 2-03a

What are warm and cool colours?

  • Colours on opposite sides of the colour wheel.
  • Warm colours like red, orange and yellow often associated with fire and sun suggest warmth.
  • Cool colours like green, blue and violet often associated with water, sky and spring, suggest coolness.

Today’s steps for success;

  • Draw a 1cm border around your card.
  • Draw a line across the middle of your card.
  • Select a section of your line and pencil in marks.
  • Draw spokes out from the selected section.
  • Decide which half will use cold colours, and which will use warm colours.
  • Add a horizon line in black using gentle brushstrokes.
  • Finally, add patterns to make the bottom half look like crops in your field.
