Everyone had a great (if not very sunny…) time at sportsday. Thanks to Mr Atkinson for the photography!

We are wishing Miss McGowan a fond farewell this week as she finishes her placement with the class. We will all miss her.
An escape room let us combine our problem solving and literacy knowledge this week. Eventually everyone managed to find the missing quills!

As always only those children who were happy with the photos are in this week’s blog.
Miss McGowan took the class outside to experiment with volume. They solved problems, estimated and checked the capacity of containers.

This week we’ve been celebrating Eid and learning about Islam. We researched mosques, created Islamic geometric art and today we made pakora with Mrs Nasar.

Have a great holiday everyone.
An exciting day today with the arrival of our leavers’ hoodies!

We continued our topic looking at civil rights and defending democracy. This week we looked at British civil rights, Windrush and the Bristol Bus Boycott. We explored Windrush and its impact on the UK. We also learnt about Paul Stephenson, the civil rights activist.
In the photos the class were looking at pictures from the era and discussing them. They also watched videos, read and looked at graphs related to the topic.

We finished our mini-topic looking at weddings from different religions. Today we looked at Muslim weddings and then compared the wedding traditions of different Muslim cultures.

This week we finished making our picture books and took them to read to P1a:

This week among other things we’ve been making children’s picture books ahead of World Book Day where we plan to share them with a younger class. We looked at examples, discussed plots and then started work on our books.

As always those not featured in the blog have asked for the photo not be included (or others in the photo have).
We marked internet safety day with a live lesson and some activities about avoiding scams. We made up our own scams and tried to spot the tell tale signs and then we designed some posters.

As always, if anyone asks not to have a photo on the blog I don’t post them.
