One of our focuses for this week was shape! To support our understanding, we looked at a range of national flags. We investigated the following:

  • What shapes can we see
  • How would we describe these shapes
  • Any lines of symmetry
  • Any parallel lines

We went outside and tested each others knowledge of Area and Perimeter.

We continued to focus on the Suffragettes and the Suffragists, where we looked at a timeline of events that occurred during the Suffrage Movement.

Hi readers,

Welcome to this week’s blog post!

IDL – World War 2

To finish off our topic, we were put into groups to research another aspect of World War 2. The topics included the role of women, evacuees, school life, the Royal Air Force and how weapons were developed during the war.

We enjoyed creating PowerPoint presentations based on our topic and we are looking forward to presenting them to the class next week.

Drama – Freeze Frames

In groups we created freeze frames based on World War 2. These scenarios focused on evacuees and their life during the war.

As a starter activity, we played Say it Another Way where we had to say nursery rhymes in a different way. Here are some examples:

  • Say it as if you are a teacher
  • Say it as if you are in a hurry
  • Say it as if you are very tired. Say it as if you are a robot

We used an interactive wheel to decide how we were going to say the nursery rhyme.

Hi readers,

Welcome to this week’s blog post!

Literacy

For this week’s writing, we looked at expanded noun phrases. We use expanded noun phrases to add more detail to our sentences by adding an adjective or adjectives to our nouns.

We looked at a video clip relating to our topic and completed activities to use the skill we have developed. One activity included a “5 senses carousel activity”. This involved us writing down phrases that linked to each of the senses.

Our challenge was to use expanded noun phrases and ambitious vocabulary. This activity helped us with our writing for this week where we produced a piece of writing based on the video we had watched.

Topic – World War 2

For our topic, we focused on the lives of evacuees during WW2.

We created luggage tags and posters that displayed lots of information about evacuees during WW2.

French

This week for French we revised colours. In pairs we played connect 4 to practice our language skills. The first person to get 4 in a row wins!
