Hi readers,

Welcome to this week’s blog post!

Literacy

For this week’s writing, we looked at expanded noun phrases. We use expanded noun phrases to add more detail to our sentences by adding an adjective or adjectives to our nouns.

We looked at a video clip relating to our topic and completed activities to use the skill we have developed. One activity included a “5 senses carousel activity”. This involved us writing down phrases that linked to each of the senses.

Our challenge was to use expanded noun phrases and ambitious vocabulary. This activity helped us with our writing for this week where we produced a piece of writing based on the video we had watched.

Topic – World War 2

For our topic, we focused on the lives of evacuees during WW2.

We created luggage tags and posters that displayed lots of information about evacuees during WW2.

French

This week for French we revised colours. In pairs we played connect 4 to practice our language skills. The first person to get 4 in a row wins!

This week’s focus was the Blitz. We researched about what happened during the Blitz and then created a report.

Also, we created an art piece based on the Blitz.

We are so happy with the way they have turned out!

Road Safety Week

This week was Road Safety Week. We created leaflets that included key information on how to stay safe on the roads. We used our knowledge from Bikeability to help us create the leaflets.

Book Week Scotland

On Wednesday, we had a whole-class discussion about books we enjoy reading.

We created a class list of book recommendations, as well as discussed books that we thought were based around the theme of hope.

Hope you all have a relaxing weekend J

Literacy – Inference.

This week we focused on inference. We made inferences from a range of different pictures. This influenced lots of discussions from the class.

Topic – World War II

This week we started our new topic on World War II. In pairs, we researched key events of World War II and we put them in order onto a timeline.

For writing this week, we created a persuasive text based on WWII. Also, we created our own propaganda poster using the persuasive language that we have developed through our writing.

Today, we researched countries that were Axis and Allies Powers during World War II. We then used a map to plot the Axis and Allies Powers.
