Hi readers,

Here is what we got up to during our first week back at school!

Numeracy – Data and Analysis

This week we started a new focus on Data and Analysis. In pairs, we created a survey to ask our peers to answer. We gathered information to then populate a tally chart.

PE – Eastwood High School

We are continuing to build on a range of sports skills at Eastwood High School. It has been great working in our teams on a new skill each week.

IDL – The Business Apprentice

This week we prepared resources for our stalls for a sales task. We thought of creative ways to sell biscuits for tokens.

Today, we were advertising and selling our products to the other primary 7 classes. Take a look at our stalls!

French

We continued our French revision this week and researched countries that spoke French. We found out that French is the official language in 28 countries!

Stay tuned for next week’s blog post!

Hi readers,

Here is this week’s blog!

Numeracy

We continued to build on our skills within measurement and time. As a class, we achieved lots of new records for our multiplication square challenge.

As a finishing task, we were given a challenge to identify which number doesn’t belong in the box. It created lots of discussions and it challenged our thinking skills.

Literacy

This week’s writing was inspired by the story of Alma. We participated in lots of tasks that helped support our writing, such as highlighting figurative language in a text based on the story.

IDL – The Apprentice

This week our task was to film and edit our adverts for the “No  Bovver Hoverboard”. We had lots of fun working in our teams to come up with creative ways to make our adverts engaging. We used iMovie to incorporate sound effects and animations throughout our adverts. Our adverts were then sent to P7c to vote.

Art – Tim Burton

Our Art this week was inspired by the artist Tim Burton. We created a character using charcoal to sketch and create a shaded effect. They have turned out great and we are excited to add them to our art gallery.

STEM

This week we joined up with the other Primary 7 classes to work with Mr Atkinson to study the growth of our plants. We worked in our teams and used our measuring skills to help with the plant growth. Take a look!

Thanks for reading this week’s blog post! We hope you all have a lovely and relaxing October week.

Hi readers!

Welcome to this week’s blog.

Literacy

This week for literacy we looked at the character Alma. This helped us to identify and explain features of characters. We summarised the story and looked up definitions of words that relate to Alma. Additionally, we completed a theme chart that explained when each theme was presented in the video clip. The themes included rebellion, temptation, consequence, curiosity and innocence. Next week, we will continue working on tasks relating to Alma.

Numeracy

On Wednesday, we started our lesson participating in an “Esti-Mystery” task. First we had to estimate how many tops were in the jar and then we were given a set of clues to narrow down our options. This promoted group discussions and thinking skills.

We also built on our skills through measurement and time. We completed a range of tasks and activities. One activity was an area dice game which supported our skills in measuring the area of a rectangle.

IDL – Apprentice

In our teams, we started planning our adverts for the ‘No Bovver’ Hoverboard. We created a storyboard and an advert design to help with the planning process. Next week, we are going to film our adverts and edit them. We are very excited to see how they will turn out!

Climate Ready Classrooms

On Thursday, we took part in an online workshop with school across the council. We explored biodiversity, climate change and what we can do to look after our planet.

STEM

Today we planted maize seeds for the Glasgow University Seed Lit Project. Everyone had a role to participate in a debate. The debate had a focus on using organic and inorganic types of fertilisers.

Growth Mindset

To finish off our series of lessons on Growth Mindset, we created posters for other classes! These posters included inspirational quotes and illustrations.

Thank you for reading and stay tuned for next week’s post!
