Week ending 30th October

By – Sam,Luca Fr,Ben

Welcome back to this weeks blog

This week was Maths Week Scotland, in maths we made curves with straight lines called Parabolic lines and tessellations art.

There were different activities such as sewing, drawing, geo-boards and more.

In P.E we played netball and there were five different teams. There was dark blue, light blue, pink, red and green. We have improved and now understand the rules and therefore we are playing to win!

We had a science afternoon linked to our Extreme Earth topic and there were five tasks. The first task was to put some cubes in the middle of 2 tables, with a gap in between, then we put a cardboard piece in the middle (the epicentre) and we had to build a house and then hit the bottom with a ruler to see if it stayed. Task 2 was to build a structure to hold a big ball on a wobble board. If it held you succeeded but if it flew off you failed. Task 3 was to build a house out of toothpicks and marshmallows and balance it on jelly. If it fell apart, you failed, if it stayed up then you passed the test. But you could only use 20 marshmallows and 20 toothpicks.Task 4 was to build a tall lego house and put it on a wobble board and you had to see if it would break. Task 5 was 4 people would sit on chairs and lean back and put their heads on someone else’s lap and then some people would move the chairs backwards and try to stay up.

In Literacy we got new books called The Thief Lord, Framed and Little Manfred and we got new maths and science spelling words linked to maths week.

We did a house quiz and it was tricky and all the houses got a reward for this.

Thanks For Listening.

By – Luca Fr, Luca Fi

Hello everyone, welcome to our class blog. This week we started on Monday by playing  rugby in the muga. Then after that we wrote structured poems, we selected different types of poems to write following the structure of ones like limericks and haikus. In the afternoon we went to the woodland and we were measuring trees using different techniques. It was a lot of fun and a bit confusing! Then on Tuesday in indoor P.E. We played netball where we split into 4 teams each of them getting a game against all the other teams. After break on Tuesday we were reading our book Cloud Busting. When the two characters in the book went cloud busting we went outside to do it ourselves. We found lots of different shapes in the clouds. We then sat in the playground to finish the novel. After that we did máths. One group did decimal fractions, another did algebra and the last group did angles. On Wednesday Mr Eadie was in with us for the whole day and we played wordle and maths games. Also at the end of the day we used oil pastels to draw a volcano picture we also used paint. Then on Thursday with Mrs Hutchinson we did drama called Bus Stop and there were 5 people up on stage we had to act out different roles that Mrs Hutchinson either gave us or we could choose. On Friday we did maths, in maths we did decimal fractions after that we had assembly and they told us senior prefects and we also got find out when we could vote for the new Crookfur values poster that will be displayed all around the school for the next few years and so after that we finished all our work that we haven’t done this week and that is what we did this week thanks for listening. Come back next week to hear about our week.

Friday 2nd September

By – Evan, Dylan Ben

On Monday in P.E. We played a hoop game where you had to hit a ball in a hoop on the ground and the person that missed the hoop had to find a new partner. We also did a time task with the other class we found that fun. Going into Tuesday we had double P.E. sessions while doing that we did a fun game where we had to pass a ball to our team mates then throw it to the person on the bench we found it fun. In P.E. we also did the pac man game where people only had to only walk on the lines it was

fun. Hoping into Wednesday we did very fun emotional poems describing our present emotions or past emotions Dylan wrote a sad poem about a person getting bullied in school and crying and then they smile and laugh at the end. On Thursday we had Mrs Hutchinson, we listened to an old musical called “Singing in the Rain” We identified the instruments as a harp and a flute and a human voice, we found this very interesting. Then we started Drama. In drama we had emotions. For example we were happy so the first was not over exaggerated  and then the last one was super over exaggerated that was fun. After that we did Spanish. We learned to count to twenty in Spanish after that we did maths. We finished our mini maths booklet in the maths booklet, it had long addition and multiplication and subtraction and division. After  maths we did Number of the Day. After everyone finished their maths we went to the activity trail. Going on to Friday we did numeracy with nature where we had to draw patterns with what we saw for example plants on the ground or trees above this was fun. After break everyone got to make an application for being a Senior Prefect. After that we went to the assembly and some people got achievements including (Evan and Euan). The digital leaders told us about the digital leader application. For the application you can get bronze, silver, gold and then digital leader. We had MUGA. We usually have MUGA on a Friday. In the afternoon we did social studies and we were learning about extreme weather. Have a good weekend comeback next time.

Welcome to Primary 7A!

Welcome to Primary 7A class blog. It has been a pleasure getting to work and learn with your young people over the last week. Every week we will have two children from the class to write a recount of the week as well as including pictures from the week.

I can’t wait to share our learning journey with you this year.

By Harry and Bruce

This week and last week we’ve been up to lots of wonderful activities with our new teacher Mrs Norman. On Wednesday we shared our news from our quick summer holidays by acting it out. Thursday was especially fun because we got to chose our class charter which ended up being farm themed and in the afternoon we made paper makeshift shoes out of newspaper and sellotape and walked, skipped and ran from the fence to the wall in our playground in the shoes and all of the shoes survived and now they’re on the wall.

On Friday all of the house captains had to go around the school and give colour badges to the people in their house meanwhile the other people in the class were figuring out a maths quiz in groups and the winner of the quiz got to pick 2 songs of their choice.

On Monday we watched The Blue Umbrella which is a short film about a blue and red  umbrella which stand out from the other umbrellas but separate, but then the other objects come together to get them back together in the end. In P.E. on Monday we played capture the flag. It was really fun. Tuesday in the hall at P.E we played boys vs girls rock, paper, scissors game where you run in a line and when you meet the other teams player you do rock, paper, scissors and if you win you run further across the line until the next player comes and you play again until you get to the other teams side and get a point and the end score was 7-4 to the boys. On Wednesday we were finding more about the book were reading called Cloud Busting there are 5 main characters called Davey, Sam, Alex, Oliver and Mr Mackie. We learned that Davey got bullied for shouting FIZZY FEET! As many call it pins and needles. On Thursday we learned a bit of Spanish like how to say hi and bye . We also found out what old devices looked like and what they are like a VHS tape. Today in the morning we did our first writing lesson about our first week back at school. After break we had Mrs Hutchison and the second assembly of the year and in the afternoon we are doing drama with Mrs Hutchison where we will be miming which is when you act without making any sound.
