Friday 19th May 2023

Today we were using Kapla to build natural disasters such as volcanos, tsunamis, earthquakes, landslides and tornados. -Gabby

On Tuesday Wednesday afternoon some of the parents came in and we activities such making towers that could survive earthquakes and hurricanes, we researched a natural disaster and created an information leaflet, we painted The Great Wave by Hokusai and we wrote imaginative diary entries as if we had survived a natural disaster. – Varda

In P.E we did hockey and we played small games. On Thursday we did 7 different fitness stations. -Ismail

In health and wellbeing we were learning the importance of limiting screen time and we made information posters about how to limit screen time. -Gabby

We made natural disasters wall decorations and we also made math posters. -Isam

 

 

 

Friday 5th May 2023

We learnt some information about the coronation of King Charles III and watched a video which showed us how to create a drawing of him.  We made this and stuck it on a background we made.  We then added a speech bubble with a fact about his royal highness.

The Marvellous Multipliers have been learning about angles.  This week we were learning about complimentary and supplementary angles.

The Dedicated Decimals were learning about decimal fractions and how to multiply and divide these.

The Flawless Fractions were also learning about decimal fractions and were identifying what each column in the number line represented.

In writing, we were creating instructions on how to make the recipes we created as part of our Eid celebration.  We focussed on the use of verbs and advers.

Friday 21st April 2023

In PE we have been outdoors this week as the hall is being used.  We have been doing athletics on a Monday and stations on a Thursday.  This week our stations included basketball, capture the flag, relay races, ball games, parachute game and the orangutan.

In writing this week we wrote a poem called ‘I Am..’ which was all about us.  We included information about ourselves (our hopes, dreams, fears, emotions) and made these personal and honest.  We then re-drafted these and mounted them on paper which we decorated.

In maths and numeracy the Flawless Fractions were continuing work on fractions and learning about ordering fractions which we will continue to learn about.  The Dedicated Decimals have been learning how to measure and draw angles.  We used protractors to do this.  The Marvellous Multipliers have also been learning about angles and learning the different names of angles (acute, right, obtuse, straight, reflex) and how to identify them.

We learnt about and created pop art this week.  We traced images and then printed these images by drawing on the back of the tracing paper.  We then used bright colours to colour these images in.

This weekend is the celebration of Eid.  We learnt about Ramadan and Eid and some of the pupils in our class shared what their Ramadan had been like and what they were doing to celebrate.  We then made cards to celebrate Eid.  Eid Mubarak!

 

Friday 17th March 2023

*+On Monday, in P.E we couldn’t do P.E outside because it was raining so instead we did Bocha indoors.-Myra

Today we started the Sumdog competition we you need to complete 1000 questions per person-Isam

During drama Mrs Ferguson came in and introduced Lena Ferguson/the baby-Sophie

In writing we wrote the problem and solution to our planet stories-Aritri

Friday 10th March 2023

In Literacy the Publishers were focusing on a book called ‘Holes’.  – Olivia

In writing, we were introducing a character. – Jamie

The Dedicated Decimals were focusing on 3D shapes in maths. -Myra

The marvellous multipliers were learning about addition and subtraction for chimney sums. – Lewis

The flawless fractions were doing addition and subtraction worksheets. – Gabby

In PE we were passing the ball with our partner practising our aim in tennis – Oliver

We were learning days of the week and months in french this week. – Aritri

We presented a Fairtrade presentation in assembly. – Oliver

In  music, we were playing the glockenspiel. -Varda

 

Friday 3rd March 2023

On Monday we are imaging writing about setting in space.-Omar

in P.E we were doing basketball and we learnt to shoot,dribble and pass.-Lucas

Yesterday was world book day and we made presentations about a famous author called Michael Morpurgo some of us presented ours at assembly -Gabby

In maths the Dedicated Decimals where doing volume, the Flawless Fractions where reading time to the nearest minute and the Marvellous Multipliers where doing addition and subtraction. – Lewis , Ollie.

On Monday we did PE outdoors  and we were  focusing on dribbling the hockey ball around the MUGA and we also played some games. -Lewis

Today in literacy, all of the groups had to draw the main character in their book they were reading, and around the drawing you would write words that describe them such as nice brave kind and scared and next to them you would write quotes  from the book.  Lucas And Myra

Show Practice

At assembly we got to sing our songs in fronts of the entire school.  We also did our ceilidh dancing and our highland games with our  actors who are William Wallace, Robert The Bruce, Mary Queen Of Scots and Rob Roy. The songs we sang are The Jeelie  Piece Song, Scotland’s Story, Auld Lang Syne and Caledonia.  We also performed in front of our parents. By the end they were all greeting! – Sophie W

Maths

Dedicated Decimals- The dedicated Decimals were multiplying 2 by 3 digit mentally. My brain hurt afterwards. – David

Flawless Fractions- In Maths The Flawless Fractions were time and we were looking at converting hours, minutes and seconds on Monday. And on Thursday we were doing pictograph worksheets and after we made our own pictograph. – Sophie W

Marvellous Multipliers- In Maths we were looking at finding the area of rectangles, squares and triangles. – Miss Kay

Literacy

In literacy we were learning about Scottish words like cannae meaning can not  and wean  meaning child. We read a piece of text and answered lots of Scottish related questions. We also had a worksheet were we had to work out what a word means and then translate it into English. -Olly

Art

In art we were making silhouettes of famous Scottish landmarks including Ben Nevis and the squinty bridge. So first we started with the background were we could use pencils or chalk to make a sunset. Then we drew are famous landmark on a black piece of paper then cut it out and glued it on. Mine looked amazing.- Lucas

 

Friday 3rd February 2023

For fair trade we where learning  how chocolate was made by cocoa beans in Africa.We designed our own chocolate bars on paper.We also looked at portion sizes.-olivia

Just a few days ago Mr.Mcmillan told us that the whole of P.6 is going to put on a show about the broons family so for P.E we are practising our dancing. – Myra

The marvellous multipliers were doing some measure on the textbooks and some place  value-lewis

on Tuesday we where doing music and we where looking at beats like crochet and semi quaver-David

PE

Matthew- In PE we have been practising  our basketball and hockey skills such as our passing, shooting, dribbling and defence by playing games against each other.

Getting To Know Miss Kay

Gabby- This week we got a new teacher named Miss Kay and on Wednesday we did a few activities with her to get to know her for example we did a game of bingo where you went around the class and asked people if they had something that was on the sheet like find someone with green eyes.

Maths

Dedicated decimals-

Jamie-In maths for the dedicated decimals, we were working on area and the area of a triangle and compound shapes.

Flawless Fractions-

Gabby- The flawless fractions were doing data analysis and were doing TJ 2A textbook and were doing a mixture of line and bar graphs.

Marvellous Multipliers-

Aritri- In the marvellous multipliers we were doing measurement.

Writing

Olly-In writing we were writing scripts for a persuasive advert.

 

Friday 20th January

In maths Dedicated decimals have been doing algebra and area. We learnt that algebra is just working out the missing number in the sum. – Ethan. The marvellous multipliers have been doing order of operations after that we moved on to measuring. –Ayan   The flawless fractions were making a survey on whatever they wanted to do it on. – Isam

In P.E we were practising passing, receiving and control in hockey. We also do basketball. We were practising control, shooting, defending and passing. – Ethan

In writing we were making a leaflet about persuading someone to come to Scotland. – Ayan

During music we learnt how many beats and notes were worth. – Ethan

In French we were learning numbers days and days of the week. – Isam

During Art we did pop art and tracing photos of famous characters in movies or series. –  Mariam
