Anti-Bullying Week and Farewell Chloe

Anti-bullying Week

On Wednesday this week, a campus police officer came in and she talked about bullying and cyber bullying. Bullying is face-to-face and cyber bullying is online. – Isaac

She mentioned using different apps and cyber bullying can really hurt other people and it can happen anywhere and not just outside, e.g. you could be sitting in your bedroom reading hurtful text messages. – Zunairah

The police officer told us a story about a girl who was popular with her classmates and very clever but sadly people made a group chat on Whatsapp and said horrible things about her. The police got involved and she wasn’t wanting to go to school or eat food because she was so terrified. – Lewis

The main message that we learned is that you do not want to be the person that would make others feel bad about themselves and don’t do things to people you wouldn’t want done to yourself. – Ethan

We also watched a video about a child who had epilepsy and he had a lot of seizures. Boys were bullying him and a girl and her dad saw it. The dad laughed and his daughter got mad with him at home because she wanted him to stop the boys and give them into trouble. – Sophie W

We learned that it is not nice to laugh at people whether they have a disability, a hidden disability or no disability at all. – Ava

I have also learned that even though the bullying could be cyber (on your phone), it could still be physical because it can cause you to hurt yourself. – Ismail

Book Week Scotland

This week we have been celebrating Book Week Scotland.

Throughout the week we have taken time for personal reading and documented how many books/ chapters we have read.

We have also been focusing on Roald Dahl’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. We engaged in many STEM activities relating to this book such as creating our own surveys about favourite chocolate bars and forming bar graphs or pie charts to display our findings.

In pairs, we then used an online programme called TinkerCad to design a 3D model of our own imaginary chocolate bar and wrapper. This required creativity, maths skills, excellent ICT skills and a lot of patience!

We are really proud of what we have created. Have a look below…

In addition, Primary 6 met up with our P1 buddies this afternoon and read them a story from their Book Bags. We loved the chance to see them again and take on this responsibility.

Problem Solving

In maths we were doing problem solving and we had to try and sort the kids into their rooms meanwhile trying to use the least amount of moves. -Myra

Ayan and me were drawing a little bedroom for the kids and trying to work out how many moves it takes to swap around. You need to get the numbers less than 20. -Aritri

Writing

In writing we were writing a news article about world war 2 starting as if we were in 1939 and we had to do a headline, a byline, the lead , the body, the tail and we added in a picture. – Sophie W

WW2 Art

This week, we had a choice of drawing checked poppies or creating a stained glass window with poppies. We were focusing on poppies this week because it’s Remembrance Day today which is when we remember everyone who fought in wars. – Chloe
