Class Blog- 24th February

“On Friday we were learning what humans can do that will affect the fish in the River Clyde. We created posters to show what we learnt” Millie

 

“Today we did Spanish, we learnt about fruit and vegetables – we played some games to learn these.” Harry

“On Thursday we did drama, we made up a superhero scene and we will be working on these for a few weeks. We got into groups and we had to pick some superheroes and villains. We played hot seating where you had to pick someone to sit in the hot seat and we asked them questions to find out more about each character. ” Harper and Josh

“On Thursday we were converting grams to kilograms. We needed to think about the weight of different objects.” Ross

” On Wednesday we did writing. We learnt how to build up our writing by using a story mountain plan.” Sophia

Class Blog 17th February

“Today we went to the woodlands, we had to make a list and then  find worms, slugs,bugs and spider webs.”  – Lisa

“On Wednesday we did creative writing, we had to use the characters we created last week within our plot stories this week.”- Katie

“This week we were learning about Canada in our topic. We had to draw the map of Canada and write facts about it. we learnt that most of the worlds lakes are in Canada.  Miss Fletcher taught us that Scotland only has one lake and the rest are called lochs.”- Harper and Josh

“Yesterday we did written multiplication in maths. We worked with two and three digit number” – Arnav

“Today we did Spanish, we learning how to say the months of the year. We played a game with the months where we had to guess the missing month. ” – Sophia

A quick trout update. They’re growing fast and the class are working really hard to take good care of them.

Class blog- 3rd February

“Today we did Spanish with Miss Fletcher. We learned how to say the days of the week in Spanish.” Lisa

“On Wednesday our trout eggs arrived. We started to do some of our jobs to look after them. The jobs are keeping track of temperature, changing ice bottles and changing the water.” Maira

“Today we had woodland and we had a lot of different jobs. We were clearing out the old planters so that we can grow some flowers and encourage bees. Some of us were litter picking. We went round each playground picking up all the litter and in our opinion the P5 and 6 playground was the cleanest.” Jad and Steven

“We were learning about Argentina and the La Boca neighbourhood. We were creating art inspired by La Boca.” Calvin

“In Maths we learned about multiples and factors, did some problem solving and challenged our friends.” Arnav

“On Monday we did P.E with Miss Hutchison. We did some tennis and tried to score points by keeping the ball on the racquet.” Harry

“On Thursday we got into groups to discover the different stages of trout life cycles. Two people were writing and two were drawing.” Katie

“To learn about coding we paired up. One person could see the board and one couldn’t. The person who could see the board had to tell the other person what to draw. We had specific instructions we could use.” Euan

 

Class Blog- 27th January

“On Monday we had P.E with Miss Hutchison. We played four a side football matches.” Mason

“In Spanish we learned how to count to 10.” Lisa

“On Monday, someone called Toby came in to the class to deliver our hatcheries and tell us about the trout eggs and how to look after them.” Euan

“We had to make some things for Clyde in the Classroom. Me, Euan and Mason made a “Live Fish Sign” other people made things like “do not turn off” and “keep the temperature low.” ” Calvin

“We did health and wellbeing with Miss Fletcher. We learnt about food labels that were marked, red for high, orange for medium and green for low. We got some different bottles like coke and chocolate milk. We read the label to find out how much sugar was in them. Then we spooned the sugar into bags. I was surprised by how much was in the drinks.” Darcy

In Maths we did some 4 processes word problems. Some were division, some multiplication, some were subtraction and some were addition.” Arnav

 

Class Blog- 20th January

“Today we went to the Science Centre. We learnt about Clyde in the Classroom. We are going to be getting 200 trout eggs to look after in class. When they hatch we will release them into the Clyde. We learnt all about the fish and how to look after them.” Zak and Lisa

“This week in maths we were doing measurement. We had to measure different objects and choose whether to use a metre stick or ruler.” Maira

“We learned about coding. We were using Scratch to make a game. It was a jumping game. We had to pick a character and a background.” Mueez

“On Wednesday we did writing. We wrote a letter to Mrs McGuigan to persuade her to let us go to Argentina.” Aiza

“We learnt about cities in Scotland and some other countries. We made some passports.” Arnav

“We talked about healthy eating with Miss Fletcher. We chose a meal and put it into the “Eat Well Plate”. We had to draw different types of food into different sections.”  Harry and Maira

“We were reading our books in class. We had to write a prediction about what will happen next.” Millie

 

 

Class Blog- 13th January

“We were learning some Spanish. We learned how to say hello, goodbye and what our name is. We said hello and goodbye to everyone that came in.” Calvin

“We did P.E with Miss Hutchison. We did some football. We were passing the ball and then stopping it with our foot.” Katie

“We did some maths Miss Fletcher and we learned some new strategies for multiplication.” Erin

“We learned with Miss Fletcher about speech marks and how to properly use them.” Euan

“We did some coding. We made a game with a little character at the bottom and there was an object that the character had to catch. We used bits of code like “if, then” blocks.” Darcy

“The Arran house got to go the hall to watch a film.” Amelia

“In Maths we were estimating and measuring objects. We had to pick 3 objects, make an estimated guess about how long they were and then measure them.” Mason

“We did some note taking about the shipyards. We watched a video and then we made 4 headings. We took notes under these headings.” Steven

Class blog- 16th December

“On Wednesday afternoon we played with blocks called Kapla. We designed a marble run. It was quite hard because it kept on falling over.” Josh

“On Friday we were making crosswords with some of our spelling words. Someone else had to figure it out when we were done.” Sophia

“On Thursday we made up designs for our dream woodland. We listed ways we could improve the woodland, like fixing the gazebo.” Ben

“On  Monday we played football with Mr McMillan. We practised our dribbling.” Steven

“We did a clarifying task. We had to find words from the text that we didn’t know and then we wrote down what we thought they meant and want evidence we had.” Arnav

“On Tuesday afternoon we performed our Christmas show. We sang some songs and learn some lines.” Mueez

“On Wednesday we did writing. We wrote a newspaper article about a disaster that had happened. We had to use quotes and give lots of information.” Roslyn

“In Maths we were creating bar charts for different stats from the World Cup. We used a website to find the information and then recorded it in our jotters.” Maira

“Some visitors came to see what we were doing in school. Some of us took part in pupil groups and took our jotters.” Harry

 

 

Class Blog – 9th December

“On Friday it was the present room. Everyone got the chance to buy someone a present.” Calvin

“We went to the woodland. We had to write down the different things we could find because it was so cold and icy. All the leaves were frozen, so was the mud. The whole woodland was a frosty winter wonderland.” Jad, Katie and Arnav

“In P.E with Mr McMillan we did football. We worked on dribbling and passing skills. We played a possession game. At the end we played a game where you got one point per pass.” Steven

“With Miss Fletcher we played would you rather and then we made silhouettes and filled them with stuff we like such as interests, hobbies and favourite animals. We drew them on the silhouette.” Darcy and Sophia

“In Literacy we made a character grid to describe the characters in our books. We found quotes about personality and appearance and other evidence.” Maira

“We finished off our alternative atlases that we started last week. We completed our map of the school on one side and our fantasy map on the other.” Millie

Class blog- 2nd December

“On Wednesday we went to the Science Centre.  We got a bus there the driver was called Michael. Then we went in and we got to explore. We saw optical illusions like a side ways room. Then we went to the Science Show. We were looking at climate change and all the different animals. We saw some explosions and indoor lightening. Then we had lunch- our lunches had our names on them. After lunch we went back upstairs and had more time. There were puzzles and in another room there were gadgets, like an exploding bottle. On the last level it was all about the human body. There was a robot that played noughts and crosses, a video of our skeleton riding a bike and an example of lungs if you smoked.” Mason and Harper

“We’ve practised our Christmas show lots this week. We’ve met up with the other classes to practise.” Ross

“This week was Road Safety Week. We tried to design a really safe road where there wasn’t too  much traffic and people could safely cross.” Harry

“We did a survey about the school. We had to answer lots of questions, yes no or don’t know.” Jad

“We did P.E with Mr McMillan. We did the bleep test and capture the flag.” Amelia

“On Friday it was dress down day! We brought a donation for the present room.” Maira

Class Blog- 18th November

“As part of Book Week we did an experiment for George’s Marvellous Experiments. We had gummy snakes and we put them in bicarbonate soda and then we waited 30 minutes before we put them in vinegar. Then they started to fizz.” Aiza

“Today we made Christmas cards for the Whitecraigs Care Home to sell. We added pictures and  colour.” Harry

“We imagined potions inspired by George’s Marvellous Medicine. We wrote ingredients and side effects.” Millie

“This week the P5 reading buddies got to read to a group of P2 and P3s.” Maira

“On Wednesday we wrote about an alien planet. We were writing about the setting and we had to use the 5 senses and good describing words. We used some pictures to help us.” Katie and Lisa

“We continued our learning about heat and we had to write about which materials were good insulators.” Jad

“We were learning about symmetry and we had a worksheet where we had to complete the pattern on the other side.” Harper

“We worked with a partner to self-assess our writing. We colour coded it. We coloured the bit to show which sense we had used.” Sophia
