Class Blog- 18th November

“As part of Book Week we did an experiment for George’s Marvellous Experiments. We had gummy snakes and we put them in bicarbonate soda and then we waited 30 minutes before we put them in vinegar. Then they started to fizz.” Aiza

“Today we made Christmas cards for the Whitecraigs Care Home to sell. We added pictures and  colour.” Harry

“We imagined potions inspired by George’s Marvellous Medicine. We wrote ingredients and side effects.” Millie

“This week the P5 reading buddies got to read to a group of P2 and P3s.” Maira

“On Wednesday we wrote about an alien planet. We were writing about the setting and we had to use the 5 senses and good describing words. We used some pictures to help us.” Katie and Lisa

“We continued our learning about heat and we had to write about which materials were good insulators.” Jad

“We were learning about symmetry and we had a worksheet where we had to complete the pattern on the other side.” Harper

“We worked with a partner to self-assess our writing. We colour coded it. We coloured the bit to show which sense we had used.” Sophia

 

Class Blog- 25th November

“Today at the woodland we were creating musical instruments  from things we could find in the woodland. Some of us hit sticks off big bits of wood. We even made mini bands. Some of us practised our Christmas songs.” Sophia, Harry, Mueez

 

“On Monday we did P.E with Mr McMillan, we worked on our fitness. There were 5 stations where we did different exercises. We were in groups. The stations were skipping, running, jumping hurdles, agility ladders and capture the flag. After that we did the bleep test. You had to run across the MUGA before the time ran out.” Sara and Harper

“In Writing this week we wrote a newspaper about Goldilocks and the three bears. We had to include paragraphs, a conclusion and what some people said.” Roslyn

“This week was anti-bullying week. We talked about differences that can’t be seen. We watched  a video about dyslexia where someone was being bullied for not doing things perfectly. We talked about how there might be things we don’t know that explain how someone is acting.” Hadia and Katie

“We learnt about primary and secondary sources. We looked at pictures to decide if they were primary or secondary sources. A secondary source is written by someone who didn’t do it or wasn’t there. Like a newspaper article. A primary source is someone or something that was actually there, like a news reporter who was there, a photo or something like a sword that was found.” Zak and Ross

“On Tuesday the Eco Committee went to the woodland and planted some new saplings.” Amelia

Class Blog- 11th November

“On Wednesday in writing we wrote a Glasgow shipyard setting description. We had to use our 5 senses.” Josh

“We created something new for our literacy wall. We chose a word and then we used a thesaurus to find other words. Then we wrote them on paper to go on the wall.” Zak

“We went to the Woodland on Friday. We had time to build things.” Ross

“On Wednesday, we went to the science bus. We learned how to cure sheep and cows. We looked at some viruses and parasites.” Aiza

“On Thursday we did an experiment to find out how long ice would take to melt. We wrapped ice cubes in a towel, tin foil, bubble wrap, in water and in nothing to see which would take longest to melt. The best insulator was the towel.” Jad and Harper

“On Friday it was Remembrance Day, so we had a minute silence. We learnt some more about it at assembly.” Amelia and Harry

“We learned about friction. Then we did an experiment. We rolled cars over different things to see what created the most friction.” Mueez and Steven

“We learnt about area in maths. We got a sheet of paper with different shapes on, we filled the shape with lolly sticks, bottle caps and cubes. The cubes were best for measuring area because they were all the same size and they fitted closely together. Bottle caps were worst cause they left gaps and wouldn’t fit directly in the shape.” Lily

 

Class blog – 4th November

“In Art we made some art for Bonfire Night. We used chalk and crayon to make fireworks. Then we chose a famous building from Glasgow, for our topic. Then we had to trace the building to make a silhouette.” Hadia

“In Maths we learnt about symmetry. We decided in real life it was hard for something to be perfectly symmetrical because there might be a speck of dust on one side. We used mirrors and tracing paper to check if shapes had a line of symmetry.” Millie and Ben

“On Wednesday we wrote about settings in Writing. We had to describe what it was like there to make it spooky. We were really focusing on using great adjectives and other vocabulary.” Katie

“We created some front covers for our John Muir booklets where we are going to store all our John Muir stuff.” Sophia

“In P.E with Mr McMillan we did fitness. We had different stations that improved your fitness. You had a belt that you wore and the other team tried to pull your tag off.” Steven

“We got a letter from someone called James. He was asking us to tell him what school was like in 2022. He told us about school in 80s.” Jad

“Some of us have been to our first committee meeting this week.” Euan

“We worked in groups to make scribble sheets/graffiti walls all about our Glasgow topic. We had to write and draw about our Glasgow topics. Things like olden days fashion, ship yards and tenements and high rises.” Jennah and Harper
