Eid Celebration Day – Friday 27th March

Today was Eid celebration day at Crookfur!

Lots of us wore cultural or party clothes to celebrate! We listened to an English cricketer read a story called “Under my Hijab” that Mrs Nasar had recommended.  At Assembly, Mrs Nasar, Mrs Rasul and three Primary 7 pupils told us about Eid-al-Fitr and Jummah club.

In the afternoon, we made Eid pop up cards.

Friday 20th March – using technology in our learning

Today we used Scratch and we made some animations.  We were working out how to do things and practice (IR)

Today with Mr Atkinson we were making adverts about going to France and the things that you can do using IMovie (AMc)

Yesterday we made Google Slides showing how to be safe online (IMc)

Yesterday we were doing google Slides about digital citizenships (AG).

Recently we used light and dark colours to show shadow on pixel art (FA).

Friday 13th March – Numeracy and Maths

This week, we have been focussing on capacity and volume.

We have estimated, measured and refined our estimates for specific volumes. We also used our partitioning skills to convert millilitres and litres. Practicing it first in mental maths helped a lot!

Thursday 5th March: World Book Day

We had a busy World Book Day – especially our Reading Buddies! They helped create the activities used to celebrate across the school, staffed the book swap and delivered the book tokens to everyone.

First, we took part in the Footy and Booky Quiz online.

As part of the Reading Buddies suggested activities, we re-created scenes from children’s books.  We made the props ourselves too.

Can you match the book to the photograph?

Peter Rabbit x 2

Matilda

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory

Tom Gates

Little Red Riding Hood

Dog Man

Some of us worked at home on the Story in a Jar/Box activity too. They are all on display at the front of our school.
