 Music

This week in music we were learning how to write stick beats in music.  Mrs Lyall sang a tune and we were able to draw the number of sticks in the rhythm and show the length of the different notes.  We then worked in groups to find rhythm sticks to match Mrs Lyall’s tune.  Once we were confident at this, we split into the red and blue group and played different rhythms to different time signatures using drumsticks.

History of Art

This week we wrote stories about ‘The Sunflowers’ by Vincent van Gogh and created ‘The Daffodils’ by P4c.  We started with a pencil drawing, then used water colours to add in the background colours.  We mixed two primary colours to make complementary colours for our sky.  Next week we will add the finishing touches to our daffodils and stems.  We were proud of our artwork!

Internet Safety

For the last week week we have been learning about internet safety.  We can now identify what personal information is and what we shouldn’t share online.   We know how to make safe passwords and what do do if anybody says or does something online that makes us feel uncomfortable.

PE – Scottish Country Dancing

Over the last week we have learnt the ‘Gay Gordons’ and the ‘Canadian Barn Dance.’  We have had fun trying to recall the steps in time to the music.  We have been able to give feedback to one another based on step patterns and timing we have performed with our partners.

Enterprise

This week we applied our money skills to a real life context.  We worked in groups to manage a budget to purchase the resources we needed to make Christmas cards and Christmas themed bookmarks.  We bought our items from the Crookfur Cash and Carry with our accountants keeping a note of each group’s accounts.  We had to learn how to compromise and negotiate with other groups to share resources in order to make the items we wanted with the budgets we had.

Music

Last week was our last music lesson before the Christmas holidays with Mrs Lyall.  We enjoyed the Christmas theme and the opportunities we had to play a range of percussion instruments.

PE

As we were watching the P5 dress rehearsal this week when we usually have PE, we had a quick 10mins to try out Joe Wicks’ new Activate Challenges.  We had great fun, but were definitely out of puff by the end of it!

International Aid

This week we learnt about international aid as part of our research into our big question: How Do World Events Affect Children’s Rights?

It was fun learning about how other people have to live.  It makes you appreciate what we have got.”  Minna

ChatterPix

We used the app ChatterPix, to record what we have learnt about the impact different world events can have on children’s rights.

ChatterPix is really fun because you have to explore the icons and make the pictures come to life.  It’s a fun way to share our learning.” Rosa

Badminton

This week we had our second Badminton lesson where we practiced serving to a partner.

It was fun trying to serve to one another.  I managed it 6-7 times!”  Emily
