Maths Week

We have learned how to play maths games in the playground using a mixture of natural resources and basic resources.  These are games we can now play at break and lunch too.

Tic Tac-Toe/Noughts & Crosses

We used natural resources and counters to play ‘Tic-Tac-Toe.’

Fifteen

We used chalk and Numicon to play the game ‘Fifteen.’  Like Tic-Tac-Toe, you need to make a row of numbers total 15.

Colour Run

We had great fun this afternoon at the ‘Colour Run.’ Thank you very much for our sponsorship money and donations.  Unfortunately our photographs have not come out great, but we had great fun getting wet and covered in coloured powder.

Whitelee Wind Farm

We had great fun in the wind and rain at Whitelee Wind Farm.  We learnt about sustainable energy from the sun, wind and water.

Wind Energy

Solar Energy

Hydro Energy

“The water, the light and the wind energy made the buzzers buzz, the lights, light up and the cogs turn in our experiments.” Jacob

Bus Tour

“Stewart the driver told us lots of facts about the wind turbines.  The blades on the turbine are made of wood.  The nose cone rotates to face the wind. If you put your ear to the turbine, you can hear the energy being produced”  Minna

“I think the bus tour was the most fun part of the trip because we had a really nice driver who was also really funny.”  Hamza

Wind Turbine Hugging!

Peat Bog Fun

The stick went 3m down into the peat bog because it was so wet. The peat at the bottom was 3,000 years old.

“The peat bog was fun!It was like bouncing on a trampoline!” Flora

“The ranger squeezed a handful of moss and it was like it was raining.  It had so much water in it!”  Emily

“I think we did great pictures in the style of Sir Quentin Blake.” Hamza

“It was hard to get the the colours right with watercolours and not mix them together.” Minna

PE

“It was really hard, but we did our best to balance with one another.” Katherine

“It was hard, but when we finally did it, I was proud of myself.” Jacob

“It was really hard to keep your feet together and balance, but in the end it all worked out well.” Rosa

Music

“It was really hard to keep up with the notes, but the more we did it, the easier it got and we caught up.” Flora

“It was really hard to beat the drum sticks in time to the notes because the music was really fast.  It was hard to remember the rests too.” Emily
