Growth Mindsets Class Debate.

We are busy deepening our understanding of what Growth Mindsets are, how our brains function and influence our every thought, action, feelings and influence how we think of ourselves. This week, we investigated the idea of being born with natural ability verses how our choices and influences growing up can make us more ‘successful’ or ‘talented’ in sports or other areas of learning. We selected the athlete Usain Bolt’s incredible sporting achievements to base our debate question on and enjoyed, researching and using our evidence to argue for or againstĀ  this.

Viking Topic Art.

The children have chosen ‘The Vikings’ as their term 1 context for learning. We are also reading, ‘How to Train Your Dragon’ by Cressida Cowell in class, and were inspired to create our own Viking portraits using oil pastels. Have a look at our results, we think we included all of the key characteristics of how Vikings looked and dressed during this period.

Practising our I.C.T Skills.

Technologies are an important part of our day to day lives and learning in school. We have enjoyed independently logging into our GLOW and Sumdog accounts and practising using tools such as Google documents and slides. We also could not resist using our favourite quiz site ‘Blooket’ to reinforce our knowledge and understanding across our learning in a fun and competitive way!

New R.M.E Topic – Sikhism.

We are learning about the religion of Sikhism as our new R.M.E topic this term. It was very interesting to discover how it began with the story of Guru Nanak. We were able to discuss and recall key moments from the Guru’s life and journey into spreading God’s word throughout the world.

Maths Challenge

We worked in partners to sharpen our mental addition to 100 during a class mental maths challenge. It was fun trying to beat the clock and our rivals to reach the magic number before anyone else! It was also good to get back into remembering how to use our jotters to write and calculate addition of larger numbers by exchanging ten

Symmetry and Patterns Outdoor Learning.

We loved foraging outdoors using natural materials in our environment to create symmetrical pictures and repeating patterns using what we could find. Take a look at the creative ways we have made these and worked successfully in groups and partners to achieve this.

Paul Klee Artist Study.

In P4c we love art and have been learning about the life and works of the artist Paul Klee. We were fascinated by his ideas of using shape, music and colour tints to create abstract paintings of buildings, people and animals. We are lucky to have fantastic artists in our class, and enjoyed drawing our own interpretations of his famous ‘Cat and Bird’ artwork.

Hi Everyone,

We have had a super 1st full week back in school and are settling into our new classroom in the upper school extremely well. As you can see below, we were glad to see our friends again after the Summer and have given a warm Crookfur welcome to a new member of our class, Ibrahim.
