What a Baby Needs

We have been looking after Leo for a while now. He has a VERY loud cry. We know that when he cries he needs something and we have to provide it for him. We check his nappy to see if it needs changed, we offer him some milk if he needs it or sometimes he just needs a cuddle.

What’s in the Box?

Up next to the moons on the ceiling there is a box.

There’s something in it.

We wrote down all the reasons why we should see in the box.

Then we wrote using persuasion sc to get what we want.

WHAT’S IN THE BOX!?

Camping Skills

We were looking at huge maps of Glasgow and the surrounding area. We learned what a few of the symbols on the maps meant and we found some familiar places on the map. We know that maps are useful for finding our way.

We practised putting up the tents for our camping trip. We have some top tips that we can share with the other classes now!

The Space Race

We were learning about the Space Race in the 1960s. We had been designing 2 stage rockets in TinkerCAD and with LEGO. Now it was time to try and get some payload (paperclips) into a moon orbit using balloons as our source of thrust. We used our growth mindset, learning from mistakes and a good amount of Teamwork Makes the Dream Work skills and reached the moon (well, the ones stuck to the ceiling)

Growth Mindset

We are using the our Growth Mindset and developing “Muscle Memory” (it’s not really from the muscles – it’s neurons making new connections)

The more we practice, the stronger and quicker these connections will grow.

This is the progression we are using:

  • One scarf arcing from hand to hand.
  • Two scarves swapping in the air – throw, throw, catch, catch.
  • One tied scarf arcing from hand to hand.
  • Two tied scarves swapping the air – throw, throw, catch, catch.
  • One weighted scarf arcing in the air.
  • Two weighted scarves swapping in the air – throw, throw, catch, catch.
  • One ball arcing from hand to hand.
  • Two balls swapping in the air – throw, throw, catch, catch.
  • Three tied scarfs
  • Three balls!
  • Three hoops!!
  • Three flaming torches!!!
  • Three chainsaws!!!! 😂

(We will stop at 3 juggling balls – the rest of the journey is up to you!)

Gymnastics

We have been practising forward rolls and backwards rolls on mats and higher platforms. We also took some amazing photos of people making tuck, star (we love the star shape!) and pike shapes in the air when using the high boxes.

Games Design

We were working in small teams to make sustainable board games with fair rules that would encourage people to play well together.

Snap a Story

For World Book Day we recreated scenes from books using our Teamwork Makes the Dream Work and Lego building skills.

Can you guess which stories these scenes are from?
