Growth Mindset

We are using the our Growth Mindset and developing “Muscle Memory” (it’s not really from the muscles – it’s neurons making new connections)

The more we practice, the stronger and quicker these connections will grow.

This is the progression we are using:

  • One scarf arcing from hand to hand.
  • Two scarves swapping in the air – throw, throw, catch, catch.
  • One tied scarf arcing from hand to hand.
  • Two tied scarves swapping the air – throw, throw, catch, catch.
  • One weighted scarf arcing in the air.
  • Two weighted scarves swapping in the air – throw, throw, catch, catch.
  • One ball arcing from hand to hand.
  • Two balls swapping in the air – throw, throw, catch, catch.
  • Three tied scarfs
  • Three balls!
  • Three hoops!!
  • Three flaming torches!!!
  • Three chainsaws!!!! 😂

(We will stop at 3 juggling balls – the rest of the journey is up to you!)

Gymnastics

We have been practising forward rolls and backwards rolls on mats and higher platforms. We also took some amazing photos of people making tuck, star (we love the star shape!) and pike shapes in the air when using the high boxes.

We play a game called “Blast” in class. It’s one of the games we play with our spelling words.

“You set a timer for one minute on the class iPad. And you write the word as many times as you can. You play the best of 5. I won.”

Climates

We took notes from a BBC documentary about penguins in a polar climate and used another source (a really good book about penguins) to add even more details. Then we turned our notes into a new page in our Animal Adaptations websites.

Taekwondo

We had a taster session from a professional Taekwondo coach. We learned new flexibility drills and how to hold a pad safely so that we could practise kicking with each other!
