IDL Blog – Term 4

P4 have now completed Learning Journey 3 and we are preparing to share our completed Board Games with other pupils across the school.

 

 

 

 

 

We marked World Day by creating bird feeders out of recycled materials to attract wildlife to out school environment.

 

 

 

 

 

For the last few weeks of term, we are learning about our local environment and the interesting history of Crookfur and the Capelrig Legend! I wonder if anyone can work out where the “rows o’ siller” are?

Writing

This week we included disasters in our stories. It was a great opportunity to use contractions. We played games, and talked to each other about them before selecting which ones would be great for our stories.

Gymnastics

We were working on apparatus and practiced our rolling, jumping and balances. In super slo-mo!

We are learning forward rolls this week. We are also doing seal rolls, teddy bear rolls and working with a partner well.

Phonics and Spelling

One of our spelling groups are learning about suffixes and the tricky spelling rules for adding -able to the ends of words.

Camping Skills

We used our TWMTDW skills to decide what are the most and least important items to take on a camping trip.

Writing

Tony is back! We tried a new way to plan our stories. We tried to include a BIG PROBLEM in our stories and a BIG SOLUTION! We looked at how other authors do this and we used our storytelling skills to improvise some stories before we wrote our own.
