Spectacular Symmetry and Show Prep

Hello again readers, another busy week in P4a!

Read on to find out about our highlights.

This week in maths, we have been learning about different types symmetry and symmetry in the real world. We watched a video with people making symmetrical patterns outside. We also looked at pictures of the Giant’s Causeway, which has naturally occurring hexagonal pillars made of basalt!

We have also been doing lots of Spring Show prep such as decorating our daffodil pots for charity! We used paint pens for these and think they look great!

“I enjoyed decorating my plant pot!” Elay

“I loved decorating my plant, even though the pen exploded a bit!” Ruaridh

Remember readers, our Spring Showcase is Wednesday next week, so see you there! 🙂

Donations will be made to the Marie Curie charity!

Amazing haikus and a sneak peek into our showcase!

Hello again reader, we have been busy this week!

Read on to find out more 🙂

We have been working hard on poetry and are looking forward to sharing some of it at our Spring Showcase. For one of these lessons we learned about haikus! A haiku is a Japanese poem which has a specific structure, often describing nature.

“We had to write only 3 lines. The first with 5 syllables, the 2nd with 7 and the last one with 5 syllables again.” Ryan

“I loved writing the haikus and completed 5 today!” Isla

“Today Ryan and I spoke to the whole school at assembly and taught everyone about an Iranian celebration, called Nowruz. This is Iranian New Year. I felt a bit nervous but also excited!” Elay

Also this week, we have been practising our showcase and it’s going really well. We can’t wait to see you at it soon!
