Terrific Titanic and sparkly star stories

“This week we finished our Titanic posters based on famous passengers.” Hannan

“On Thursday, we were looking at different aspects of measure, in Maths. I measured myself with a metre stick.” Freya D

“We all took part in a Sumdog challenge. I earned lots of coins and now have a total of 499! I also topped the leader board in Street Dash and I’m very happy about that!” Fergus

“In Art, we finished off learning about cold and warm colours by painting them. We also did line art and folded and cut paper.” Freya F

Super star story planning and Titanic research

“In Literacy we made text maps to help us learn interesting vocabulary.” Fraser

 

“On Friday, we planed our star stories for next week. Mine is set in the rainforest.” Amara

“Mine is set in the rainforest too and has a monkey, a snake and a tarantula in it!” Amber

“In Art, we chose water colours or oil pastels to  use and this helped us learn about warm and cool colours. Red is warm, blue is cool and purple is in-between.” Samarth

“As it is Book Week Scotland, a special visitor from Eastwood High came to talk to us about his favourite books!” Zakariya

“In IDL, we used our research to make a poster about famous passengers on the Titanic. Mine is all about Eva Hart.” Wanniyah

“My poster is about Thomas Andrews, he was lead ship architect.” Ashton

“My famous passenger is J. Bruce Ismay and he was the chairman of White Star Line who owned the Titanic. He survived and got on collapsible lifeboat C.” Fergus

 

In STEAM, we were learning about climate change and we drew the Earth and added trees and a cow.” Sarah

“This helped us learn about cows releasing gas, and CO2 creating a blanket over the Earth and global warming.” Isla

We even had time for a quick Show and Tell and celebrated a super swimming achievement!

Macaroni and a special star!

Welcome back readers!

“This week we have been learning about measurement. Today we investigated how many small jars could hold 1kg of macaroni.” Basmah

“We discovered that 1 kg fits into 6 and 1/3 jars. I had estimated 6 jars so that was nearly correct!”  Zakariya

“We also went outside this week and discovered a star lying in the P3 playground. We wrote down our ideas about how it got there.” Lucas

“We wrote with chalk on the ground. I think it came from space!” Neave

“Yesterday, I also spotted some clues and I think maybe Santa has sent to us.” Amber

 

“Today we read a story called Alfie’s Star and we also did a sheet to analyse the text.” Isla

“We learned the words WAGOLL (What A Good One Looks Like) and WASOLL (What A Sloppy One Looks Like) I thought the story was a WAGOLL.” Samarth

“It was a WAGOLL because it has sentence starters, a good title, paragraphs and similes.” Neave

“In Music, with Mrs Lyall we played a game were we had to bounce a ball and when we sang- pass to a friend you know – you passed to a friend and it was their turn. I thought it was challenging.” Amber

“Also in Music we learned a new sound called TA – A (this is 2 beats long). Fraser

“In STEAM, we learned about climate change and how the world is getting hotter.” Fergus

“In IDL, we researched famous passengers. I choose Eva Hart who was a 2nd class passenger.” Sarah

Awesome Onomatopoeia!

Hello again readers, we have been busy this week!

“In Literacy, we learned about onomatopoeia which are words like pop, bang and sizzle.” Isla

“Today we wrote a poem about bonfire night. We had to include all our senses and it was fun.” Zakariya

“In my poem, I included 5 senses, onomatopoeia and a simile! I feel proud!” Amber

“In Maths yesterday, we were doing measurement. My partner was Neave and we had to measure each  other in hands and it was really fun.” Blair Alba

“My partner was Amber and we chose cubes to measure the length of our bodies and drew a table on our jotter to write our estimates first then our measurements.” Amara

“In ICT. we finished our block by completing our Titanic presentations on Google Slides. I am really proud of mine.” Fraser

“With Mrs Dougall in STEAM, we were learning about metaskills.” Lucas

“We made a list of things we can all do to make the school even better!” Basmah

Titanic Tickets and Autumn Poems

Hello again and welcome back!

“In IDL, we found a ticket from White Star Line for the Titanic on our seats. It said which class also our names.” Sarah

“Next, we had to research information about our class on the Titanic. My class is 3rd and I found out a ticket cost £7!” Waniyyah

“I have a 2nd class ticket and they had bunk beds in their cabins.” Isla

“In 2nd class there was mahogany furniture which sounds fancy.” Amelia

“In 1st class, they could have beef and French cuisine!” Kiyansh

“In Music, we played a funny game. It was called Tony Chestnut and we had actions that we had to remove and keep singing. It was medium hard!” Fraser

“In Maths, we were learning about shapes and tessellation and how you can tessellate shapes and make patterns.” Nimit

“In Literacy, some of us read out poems and we got to magpie ideas and we planned our work before we wrote them.” Lucas

“We’ve been learning how to write acrostic poems. When you read the first letter vertically, it spells a word. We wrote poems about Autumn.” Samarth

“Last week, we were writing a poem called Super School. We used words starting with the same sound, this is alliteration.” Zakariya
